My favorite cruise travel tip is taking along and using a clear plastic hanging shoe holder to store and keep small to medium-sized items visible and handy. We keep sunglasses, sunscreen, sanitizer, a small flashlight, makeup, walkie talkies, small evening purse, extra batteries, etc… in this holder. Usually we hang it on the back of the bathroom door. If that door is too wide for the hooks, we hang it over a closet door or on the closet rack.

My favorite cruise travel tip is to sign up for Cruise Critic. At this site not only can you learn all about cruising from experienced cruisers you can also chat with people on your cruise. When chatting with others on your cruise you have the opportunity to make private shore excursions and activities while onboard with others on Cruise Critic. Some cruise lines have special parties for Cruise Critic members as well.

my favorite cruise tip is to convert (if necessary) text documents to a PDF format which can be transferred to a IPAD for reading. Text files can be transferred to a IPOD for reading.

My favorite cruise tip is: As soon as you book your cruise take a look at the shore excursions the cruise line offers. Decide what you want to do and write down the cost. See if there are independent excursions (or car rentals/tours) for that area on the internet and see if you can determine their cost for a similar excursion. If you can’t get one cheaper, don’t wait to book the excursion as the popular ones fill up quickly. If you do get locked out try the independent even if it isn’t cheaper because that is what you wanted in the first place. At your last stop try to determine if the cruise line offers any transportation to anywhere close. They will often have a bus ride to the airport or train station and you can continue your vacation.

before going, print up personal “calling cards” (business card size) to hand out to your new friends – with your name(s), address, phone number, email address, etc. An easy way to share your information to stay in touch with people that you meet on the cruise!

My favorite cruise travel tip is simply bring several large reusable beverage cups with lids. There is usually free lemonade, Ice Tea, or Soda available around the ship. This will cut down on purchases for something to drink at odd times.

My favorite travel tip – not just for cruises: Take photocopies and/or a USB drive with images of all important documents (passport, license, medical forms, credit cards, etc.) and keep them in your cabin safe just in case! It can be a nightmare if you lose any of these in port; having a copy in your cabin can really help!
