To celebrate California’s thriving restaurant culture, many cities and counties are offering special “restaurant week” promotions as part of Visit California’s third-annual California Restaurant Month. Nine destinations are kicking off their special offers this week, with other cities starting throughout the month. Here is a list of events happening this week:

Pasadena Cheeseburger Week, Jan 13 – 18, 2013:
The birthplace of the cheeseburger will offer over-the-top burger creations at participating restaurants for the second year.

San Diego Restaurant Week, Jan 13 – 18, 2013:
With more than 180 participating restaurants, diners in San Diego can enjoy delicious two-course lunches from $10-20 and three-course dinners from $20 to $40.

Dine Out Santa Maria Style, Jan 13 – 20, 2013:
Santa Maria Valley is offering 15-percent meal discounts and wine-tasting specials in celebration of California Restaurant Month.

Berkeley Restaurant Week, Jan 13 – 20, 2013:
New in 2013! Twenty Berkeley-area restaurants are showcasing exciting global fare with three-course $30 prix fixe menus.

San Francisco Dine About Town, Jan 15 – 31, 2013:
More than 100 restaurants are offering discounts such as “Dine About Town” menus, prix fixe lunches at $18.95 and  three-course dinner options for $36.95.

San Mateo County / Silicon Valley Share the Bounty, Jan 15 – 31, 2013:
Restaurants in San Mateo County and Silicon Valley are offering prix fix menus, lunch specials, deeply-discounted dinners and “Share the Bounty” themed menus.

Vacaville Restaurant Week, Jan 18 – 27, 2013:
New in 2013! Vacaville’s dozen participating restaurants are offering lunch and dinner menus and discounts up to 30 percent off, highlighting this Central Valley city’s cuisine.

Newport Beach Restaurant Week, Jan 18 – 27, 2013:
Continue to savor the flavor of Orange County chefs with this coastal culinary escape’s three-course prix fixe menus ranging from $10 to $40.

Oakland Restaurant Week, Jan 18 – 27, 2013:
For 10 days, an impressive set of more than 20 Oakland restaurants will be offering prix fixe menus at $20, $30 and $40 during lunch and/or dinner.
