Travel Tip of the Day: Smart Airport Driving

Airport drivingSmart Airport Driving
This is especially true at LAX and other large airports, but no matter where you are, remember: When dropping or picking people up, be sure not to speed or make any illegal turns as cops are just looking for reasons to hand out tickets. And never pick up where you aren’t supposed to—like at the center island. I’ve seen countless tickets written there.

  1. In a different matter, the credit card that I have charges 3% to change from dollars to local currencies. I think it has been pointed out that some credit cards give a better rate than this. I was looking to book train tickets to the Chunnel. If I buy in dollars, I don’t have to pay that 3% fee. But, if one compares the dollar price versus the pounds price for tickets, the dollar price is converted at $1.77 per pound whereas the exchange rate is $1.66 per pound at the moment. Hence, I can buy in pounds and pay the 3% rate and save money over buying in dollars and paying the hidden 6.7% rate exchange that the train company charges for the conversion.

  2. David Lewine says:

BEST TIP EVER. LAX cops are especially brutal. Play it by the book driving in and around airports

  3. You should always obey the instructions of police and airport authorities. The last thing anybody wants is to spend time with the security officials.
