Short bio: We don’t travel to escape life, we travel to experience it. We’re married travel bloggers who absolutely love to travel around the world, and getting to know the culture and the people who live there. We are always up for laughter, a good adventure and a bit of geocaching! We enjoy sharing our travel experiences with others through our travel blog; hoping to inform, inspire and entertain our readers. We also strive to spread knowledge and cultural understanding that can help make the world a better place.

How often do you fly? 6-8 times a year.

How many countries have you been to? Somewhere around 23.

How many continents have you been to? Only 3 so far (working on that…).

Earliest travel memory: Liz: I vividly remember getting lost at Disney’s Epcot theme park when I was 3-years-old! I was surrounded by so many tall people! I wasn’t scared though—just wandered around until security found me and gave me ice cream. My first adventure I guess.

Josh: When I was 5 I remember flying from Georgia to Walt Disney World on a small private plane, and being served Mickey Mouse Belgian Waffles while staying at the Contemporary Resort at Disney. Very cool experience!

** Funny, we did not plan to both share Disney stories – destiny!

Favorite American city: Gotta love NYC!

Favorite international city: Liz: Hong Kong; Josh: Edinburgh, Scotland.

Least favorite country: We haven’t run across one that we didn’t enjoy in some way.

Country with the meanest immigration officers: Don’t know if this is typical, but the guy in Ireland gave us a dirty look and just said “When er’ ya leavin’?” Maybe he just had too much Guinness the night before.

Favorite World Heritage Site: Angkor Wat, Cambodia!

Favorite airline: Liz: Air Canada is consistently good; Josh: Delta.

Favorite aircraft type: Any plane with a 2-3-2 or 2-4-2 seating plan so the two of us have our own row with both a window and aisle seat.

Aisle or window: Window for both of us—we trade to be fair.

Favorite airport lounge: We don’t typically go to the lounges. If we have a long layover, we try to leave the airport to explore.

Favorite U.S. airport: Liz: Kona, Hawaii (hello thatched-roof huts!); Josh: Atlanta (home).

Favorite international airport: Siem Reap, Cambodia—simple, easy and nice.

Favorite hotel: The Mayaland Resort (hotel and bungalows) on Chichen Itza property in Mexico. Amazing service, food, grounds, rooms, etc. Perfect all around!

Favorite cruise line: Disney Cruise Line (even for adults with no kids).

Favorite travel credit card: Chase Sapphire.

Favorite island: Key West (that’s why we got married there).

Favorite beach: Phra Nang (or Pranang Cave) Beach—Railay, Thailand.

Favorite fancy restaurant: Josh: Baang, Café & Bar in Greenwich, CT; Liz: The Maple Leaf, Banff Canada.

Favorite hole-in-the-wall: Anything with good drinks, food and local people.

Favorite bar: Wild Bill’s Legendary Saloon—in Banff, Canada.

Favorite fruit: Pineapple.

Favorite food: Josh: Southern comfort food (fried chicken); Liz: Anything Mexican or Italian.

Drink of choice (in the air and on the ground): Locally crafted beer!

Favorite travel movie(s): The Way, The Exotic Marigold Hotel, Into the Wild, Under the Tuscan Sun.

Top 3 favorite travel newsletters/magazines/blogs: Drive Nacho, Drive! (check them out—so awesome!), NatGeo Traveler, The Art of Non-Conformity (Chris Guillebeau).

Favorite travel website(s)—besides JohnnyJet.com, of course! ThePlanetD.com, Budget Travel, Travel + Leisure, National Geographic.

5 things you bring on a plane: iPod, iPad, bottle of water, inflatable travel pillow, bag of skittles (Josh), big fuzzy socks (Liz).

What do you always seem to forget? Sunblock!

What do you like least about travel? Unpacking afterwards!!!

What do you want your loved one to buy you from an airport Duty Free store? Local coffee or beer.

Favorite travel app(s): TripIt, Geocaching, XE Currency converter, Triposo, National Geographic World Atlas

Most embarrassing travel moment: Josh was so curious about what the local women at Chichen Itza were carefully gathering from around the trees. He thought it was some kind of food. Not knowing Spanish (but being persistent) he kept making hand gestures about eating it. The women looked at him funny & laughed—which only confused him more! Liz finally turned around to hear the conversation, and understanding Spanish she immediately interjected to stop the madness: “They are picking up trash sweetie.

Worst travel moment: Josh’s first introduction to squattie potties in Cambodia.

What’s your dream destination? Stay in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora.

Favorite travel charity: Picture Difference—dedicated to human welfare and environmental sustainability through aesthetic and meaningful photography. Purchase a photo (with a hand-crafted frame) as a reminder of the beautiful world we live in. Proceeds from the photos are distributed to reputable charity organizations in the local area where the photo was taken.

Best travel tip: Befriend/talk to the locals. Be open-minded and curious. Smile!!!
