Travel Tip of the Day: Another Seating Trick

SeatsAnother Seating Trick
If you’re traveling with a friend and you can’t get seats together on the plane (or even in the same row), try to reserve at least one window and one aisle in your different rows. Here’s why: If you have two windows to offer, a person in an aisle seat—who may prefer aisle seats—will be less likely to switch. Same goes with the reverse situation.

If you’re able to offer an aisle for an aisle or a window for a window, however, your chances of switching are better as most people won’t mind just switching rows (for the same style seat). And if it’s a row of more than two, one of you can then switch with the person or people in the middle, as people will almost always trade away a middle seat.

If you both have middle seats, meanwhile, then don’t even bother asking. Really, no one wants to sit in a middle seat!

FYI: Wondering what you’re looking at in the photo above? That’s one of Air New Zealand’s innovative Skycouches in action. Check out more on the Skycouch here.
