ConciergeGender-Neutral Room Reservations
If you’re a female traveler (and especially one traveling in more dangerous areas), it’s smart to use your first initial and last name instead of your full name when reserving a room. By not specifically identifying yourself as female, you can ward off would-be criminals. FYI: I learned this useful tip from Evelyn Hannon in a piece for JourneyWoman.com, which is an excellent resource for solo female travelers.

Another FYI: I took this photo of Patricia the concierge at the Delray Beach Marriott—the hotel where I met my wife!

Now this is the type tip that is very useful. After my husband passed away I still would say ‘we’. It took me a long time to say ‘I’. Then I realized that identified me as a single women.
I have gone back to ‘we’ to create the impression that I am not alone.

Excellent tip for female travelers! I enjoy receiving your daily travel tips and frequently share them with my husband. My hairdresser at Snipz in San Pedro remembers you from years ago! Small world.
