PassportIs Your Passport Really Valid?
Many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months after your arrival date before they’ll grant entry to their country. It doesn’t matter if you’re only going for a day; you could, and probably will, be denied entry. This rule is in place in case a traveler needs to stay for a longer period, for an unexpected reason. So don’t take any chances. Always check your passport expiration date before traveling and make sure you have enough time to renew it, if necessary.

I believe the cost of Passport renewal should be reduced for Senior citizens.

Thanks! I’ll keep this in mind. I was also just told that people aren’t supposed to show their teeth in their passport photos (so no giant smiles). I’d never heard of that and had no problems with my teethy pic during trips to Edinburgh, Vienna, and Barcelona. I see that official passport info is against it, but I have to wonder how big a deal this really is…

Depends how old your passport is. With the new facial recognition technology passport renewal photos are very strict on “neutral” expressions.

I also think the passport being renewed should be extended from its date of expiration – not from the date of renewal….I keep losing a few months every time I renew!

Just renewed my passport for my upcoming trip to Vancouver. The cost is $110, it should be good enough for another 10 years.

Good tips, thanks. I want to add something that was a life saver on my last trip to Rome. I lost my passport during the day and had no idea it was missing. Fortunately, I had a tracer tag on it. A waiter where I ate lunch found it and entered my tracker number on the website. I was automatically sent a text message (and an email) with a pickup location before I ever even knew my passport was missing. Lucky for me, I was leaving in the morning for Germany and getting a new passport would have been impossible. Tags are available through mystufflostandfound.com That tag saved my trip from total disaster and I put them on my phone, laptop and almost everything that travels with me now.
