Don’t Be Intimidated by Language Barriers
Don’t let language barriers deter you from traveling; these days, most locals around the world, especially the younger generations and those in the hospitality industry, speak English. It depends where you’re going, and you should do your research, but it’s important to remember that we’re living in an age more connected and tourist-friendly (for better and for worse) than any before it.
Still, to be prepared, you can always download translator apps like this one and maps like this one to your smartphone to quell your fears—and just in case. Of course, knowing the local language does help, so if you’ve got the time, spend some time with Duolingo before you go!
