reader-travel-tip2Photograph Your Bag
Each Friday, we’re featuring a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from Susan S., who says:

“I always take pictures of my luggage with my cell phone before each trip so that if my bag gets lost I have picture proof of what it looks like. This is very helpful when traveling abroad when there are language differences.”

No one likes to lose their bag, but if it does happen, there’s a good chance that having a photo will smooth out the process of getting it back. Great tip, Susan!

Although I sometimes forget, it’s also a good idea to photograph your bag open so in the unfortunate event that the bag goes missing, you have a record of what was inside for insurance claims.

      Agreed!

Editor’s note: A nice addendum to this tip from reader Mike R.: “Place a yard stick next to the bag in your bag photo to show the size.” A meter stick may make more sense outside of the U.S., so include both for good measure.
