Uber Seattle Airport + uberX
Recently I was in Seattle and when I landed, I looked into getting an uberX—only to find out that they aren’t allowed to pick up at the airport, only drop off. Uber’s black car service can do airport pick-ups, but they’re much more expensive than uberX. I thought about taking the Link Light Rail since it’s cheap ($2.50-2.75) and easy, but since it wasn’t rush hour, I opted for a regular taxi.

The trip from SEA-TAC to downtown (I was staying at the Westin) cost me $53. I didn’t think much of the price until I took an uberX back to the airport the next day and it was only $32…and that included the tip! If you haven’t signed up for Uber yet, I highly recommend it—and right now, they’re offering first-time users a free ride (up to $20). If you use my code (UberJohnnyJet) I get a free ride, too.

Once you become a user and get your friends/family to sign up using your own code, then you’ll both get a free ride. Even without the referral, I bet you’ll always choose Uber over a regular taxi because the service is so much cheaper, more convenient and more comfortable. You’ll even encounter nicer drivers, I think. Here’s my review of Uber.

Just go to the Light Rail passenger drop-off area on the east side of SR 99 and hail your uberX from there.

When at Sea-Tac, you can take a short walk on a covered walkway to the Light Rail Station, go down to the street level and have Uber X to pick you up there.
