ZurichWatch Out for Bikes
Yesterday’s and last Thursday’s tips were about crossing the street (one in New York and the other in Ho Chi Minh City). Well, here’s another traffic-related tip: When I cross the street, no matter where I am (but especially New York), I always do triple-takes—even when I’m headed down a one-way street. That’s because there are lots of bikers and bicycle delivery riders who are not only fearless, but also often don’t think twice about going down a street the wrong way, riding on the sidewalk or going through a crowd.

You need to watch for them, because not all of them are watching for you. They’re even more difficult to spot at night since a lot of them don’t have lights and—as bikes don’t have motors—you can’t hear them coming.
