For some reason, when we travel in taxis or car services, we sometimes feel there isn’t the same need to wear a seatbelt. Which is really stupid. I learned this lesson back in the late 90s when my mom and I were in a Copenhagen taxi on our way to the airport. The driver decided not to stop for an old man crossing the street and clipped him. Our driver wasn’t going that fast but the old man, and my mom and I, went flying.

It was crazy, but if we’d had our seatbelts on, my mom and I wouldn’t have had bruises or sore necks. I’m also often reminded of the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt by my cousin, who is an EMT in Los Angeles. The stories he tells me always make me doublecheck that I’m wearing my seatbelt—especially when I’m in the back seat. Hopefully, you will too.

I will not ride in any vehicle without wearing a seat belt — except buses do not have them~!

Great info. A friend of mine was involved in a bad Black Cab crash on the highway en route to Heathrow from London. He had his belt on and it saved him.
