Last-Minute Rate Switch

“We saved $24 on our one-night motel-room reservation by calling the day before (when we were 100% sure that barring a disaster we would be making the trip) and asking to change our existing reservation to the non-cancelable rate. The person who answered made the change with no hassle at all.
Now that I think about it, this particular motel has a 24-hour cancellation requirement, so it was a no-brainer for us!”
