PhoneT-Mobile Adding More Countries to Its Global Coverage
A year ago, I wrote about why I now use T-Mobile as my global carrier. I even turned it into a tip. The gist was that though T-Mobile is sometimes patchy domestically (it didn’t work on my trip through Yellowstone, but Verizon did), if you travel internationally a lot, T-Mobile makes sense. Its current offering gives its users free international data and text messaging in over 100 countries—plus all calls in those countries for just 20 cents a minute.

Well, if that wasn’t good enough, T-Mobile has just added 20 more countries and destinations to its list, bringing the total to 145 (including all of Europe and South America). I love T-Mobile, and I appreciate their efforts to make communication easier for travelers. Read up more on the recent changes on the T-Mobile site here.

Hey Johnny! I’ve contemplated switching to T-Mobile for this reason, but am a little worried about their coverage stateside. How has your experience been with T-Mobile in the Los Angeles area?

      Ryan,

Nice to hear from you buddy. It didn’t work in my apartment in MB but it’s gotten a lot better. In L.A. I don’t have any problems

Likewise! And I might have to checkout T-Mobile.

If you have an unlocked phone, you can sign up on a month to month basis and cancel whenever you want. I did this for my wife while traveling in Asia and it worked great. Data speeds are slower, but good enough for unlimited usage. Worked great throughout Japan.

If the coverage in the USA was as good as AT&T/Verizon, I’d probably switch as it is a great deal. All carriers have gotten
better about data roaming and costs are reasonable.

      Good tip! Thanks for sharing
