Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas is treating its guests to new in-room hotel tablets in all of its 4,004 rooms. This type of technological installation hasn’t been seen on this scale yet in the hospitality industry. The hotel worked with the software company Crave Interactive. And the installation was about 10-times larger than any other hotel to complete such a transformation to date.
With the new tablets, ARIA guests can customize their experience through services like in-room dining orders, one-touch housekeeping requests, spa service appointments, a stream of news in multiple languages, and more. Each tablet also allows for multimedia messaging with images and video, as well.
“From its inception, ARIA has been committed to providing both a luxurious and technologically advanced experience,” said Shannon McCallum, Executive Director of Hotel Operations at ARIA Resort & Casino. “We continually seek out ways to improve the guest experience and improve our offerings as trends and technology change. These new tablets are a testament to that pledge.”
ARIA’s rooms range from modern deluxe rooms and suites to the Sky Suites, which are gorgeous two-story Sky Villas with beautiful views.

I’m staying over Aria January weekend and got 2 free buffet deal via email. Price was decent ($136 per night, $527 after all the resort fee ripoffs). I was a little disappointed to find the buffet fine print…2 buffet for entire stay not per day!!!
Hopefully this tech thing will have something to keep my stomach happy. Last year Monte Carlo had buffet deal so Aria must be trying to push their product. So moral of the story: Sign up for emails…don’t discount the old, tested ways since this wasn’t on twitter. And read the fine print.

Finally came back from the Aria 3 weeks ago. Got to play around with the Tech Pad so here’s my review. In fact, that pad’s been around for more than 5 years since this YouTube video was dated back in 2010 so it’s not that new:

PROs:
1. Very easy to set up wake up alarm with the Pad compare to awful experiences of other hotel alarm clocks.
2. There’s a way to check flight schedules using the Pad (see 02:45 on the video) even though I did not know about it and ended up finding out at the airport my flight was cancelled because of the big snow storm.
3. Not related to the Pad but I was able to check out using my email and android. Got back a PDF of my bill and didn’t have to deal with any waits in the lobby.
CONs:
1. Pad is locked in cradle on one side of bed so you end up crawling to that side every time you need to change something.
2. No way to review your bill on the Pad. Only way is to use the remote and project it on your TV.
3. Remote does not override Pad so you must turn of the Pad and turn it back on with remote.
Forgot to mention the Pad had notices to guests during filming of new Bourne movie that “simulated gunfire” may be heard in the hallways. :-)
