My sister Georgette has me feeling like I am in Ground Hog's day. So far I have had 3 birthday cakes. 

The young guns beat the old guys (40 +) by two runs in our annual stick ball game 11-9. 

There is nothing like going home and seeing old friends and family members. 

I am in Connecticut for my favorite weekend of the year.

I am back in Reykjavík. Just checked out the city's most famous landmark --- Hallgrímskirkja. It's a Lutheran church in the center of town. Pretty cool. Cost 350 Kr ($5.41 USD) to take the elevator 8 floors to the top.

 

Just had the most amazing experience at the Myvatn Nature Baths in North Iceland. The Outside Air Temp 35, Water Temp 104.  

Visited the whaling town of Husavik. The Whale Museum is a must visit.  

I am in the middle of nowhere. Seriously! And it's snowing.  

Just flew 45 minutes North to Akureyri.

Took a SuperJeep across the mountains to Gullfoss ("Golden Falls").

On the flight back to LAX my Cousin Dennis was trying to be sneaky by pretending he was in the aisle seat. I booked the ticketes myself so I knew I was in the aisle and he had the window. However, he didn't know I was doing him a favor by giving him the exit row window seat because it's the best seat on the plane (there is no seat in front, and the seat reclines). He obviously didn’t realize that or take a look when he stood to do the side of the row to let me go in first. Of course when he sneakily offered it to me, I jumped in it. When he saw how plush my seat was he tried to get it back but I said "oh no" and that’s when I rolled the video camera.

Video LAX - Vega$ Flight

I made a couple quick videos of the flights to and from Las Vegas. The flight over is not funny or anything great but what it does do is it gives readers a feel for the 42 minute LAX-LAS flight.

We had an early dinner at the Terrace Point Cafe in Wynn. Our waiter Michel was awesome and the food was not only good but relatively inexpensive.
 

Wynn has done an incredible job on the jaw dropping beautiful interior design. My favorite section is a bar/restaurant that requires guests to take a curving escalator (have you ever seen one of those?) with the most colorful glass umbrellas suspended overhead.
 

I just checked out Vegas' newest Hotel and Casino. Wynn Las Vegas (WynnLasVegas.com) located right on the Strip did not disappoint. The place rocks and even has an 18 hole golf course.  

Just flew to Vega$ on America West. Will post pics from Wynn shortly.

SDF-DFW-LAX

As I mentioned in this week's newsletter Johnnyjet.com/folder/archive/letter05_11_05.html I met an ESPN commentator named Kurt on the ParkOne airport Shuttle bus. He was going to the KY Derby as well and was not only on my flight to Chicago but also on my flights back to L.A. (via Dallas). What's crazy about that is that I was reminded a valuable lesson -- never to assume. When we landed in DFW I saw Kurt look at his tikcet so I asked him what time was our flight to LAX (I figured we were on the same flight). He said it was at 10:40. Well, at the gate we learned that the 10:40 flight was now delayed 2 hours. Ugghh! When we asked about getting on the earlier flights -- the agent said all they were full. Luckily, when I asked about getting compensated I was nice because 2 hours later when the flight was ready to depart and I asked if I could get a seat with no one next to me. The agent looked at my ticket and said "You are not even on this flight"! She said you were ticketed for the 11:16 which is halfway to L.A.. I turned as red as a tomato. What a fool I am for not looking at my ticket! Fortunately, the 10:40am plane(which ended up taking off at 1:50pm) was empty and the agent not only allowed me to board without paying a fee but gave me a whole row to myself. Moral of the story: Never assume, look at your ticket's carefully and always be nice to the flight attendants and gate agents even when you are complaining! BTW: The pic above is of the $3 snack pack that American offers.
 

We stayed at the Galt House with all the celebs. Our favorite was Patti Labelle. She couldn't have been any nicer.  

None of us picked Giacomo but we all had the best time. 

Afterwards my Dad and I took a private tour of Louisville Slugger. Too cool!

Just arrived in Louisville! 

I had dinner with my friend/tech guy Angel at The Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company (www.ChicagoPizzaandOvenGrinder.com) on North Clark Street. Of course I had to get one of their famous "Pizza Pot Pies". Ummm Ummm!  

Last night I stayed at the Renaissance Chicago O'Hare Hotel. It's a brand new (3 month's old) and quite comfortable.
 

In Chi-Town

I just landed in Chicago and I am on my way to the WTTW studio to do a travel segment on the local news. I flew American which was great except they fly old MD80 planes. I am not complaining because at least I made it here!
