Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park

I’m a huge baseball fan (Go Yanks!) and one of my ultimate goals is to not only go to all 30 major league ballparks but to do it in 30 days. It would be pretty cool, eh? PARTY AT LAX TO SALUTE IT'S 80TH Anniversary

Los Angeles International Airport's Flight Path Learning Center and Museum will salute the airport's 80th anniversary with a festive benefit on Monday, October 20, in the Imperial Terminal on LAX's south perimeter. Themed "Those Were the Days," the evening includes a reception at 5:30 and a full-service dinner at 7. Featured will be the new Qantas A-380 super-jumbo aircraft, on static display on the tarmac near the dining area. More than 400 guests are expected. Reservations are available by calling (310) 215-5291.

The museum is a joint venture of the Flight Path Learning Center of Southern California, a nonprofit community group organized in 1995 to develop and promote the museum, and Los Angeles World Airports, the City agency which operates LAX. The salute is Flight Path's 12th annual fundraiser. Emphasizing Flight Path's educational mission, each gala features presentation of the Clay Lacy and Charles "Pete" Conrad scholarships to students planning careers in aviation or aerospace. The competitive selections are made by panels of aviation professionals, according to Flight Path President Rowena Ake.

"Education is the heart of our work at Flight Path," said Ake. "We want our guests to appreciate this while they have an enjoyable evening."

Dinner will be served outside under a big tent with an amazing view of the airfield. The evening's entertainment will feature The LAX Idol group on-stage, the Hyperion Outfall Serenaders jazz combo on the patio, and the Beach Cities Swing Band for after-dinner dancing. Guests also will have an opportunity to view aviation memorabilia and flight simulators in the museum and vintage aircraft on the tarmac, including the museum's historic DC-3.

Flight Path's galleries feature an array of memorabilia, including current and vintage aircraft models, airline pilot and flight attendant uniforms from Pan Am, TWA and other carriers, and classic photos of aviation pioneers and airport history. An on-site research library was formally dedicated earlier this year in honor of William A. Schoneberger, noted aviation historian and author.

The Flight Path Learning Center and Museum is situated in the Imperial Terminal, 6661 W. Imperial Highway, Los Angeles. It is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Here’s a fantastic idea: a lodging website that caters to cancer patients, their families and caregivers that must travel for treatment. Joe’s House is a nationwide, non-profit organization, which serves cancer patients, their advocates, and social workers by providing a national online directory of local lodging accommodations. Their website offers over 1,200 different types of lodging facilities, including individual homes, hospitality houses, other non-profit housing such as Ronald McDonald Houses and Hope Lodges, apartments, hotels, hostels and more.

Users may search for lodging by city or cancer center and the site is free to use. They have detailed information about each facility such as amenities, distance from the cancer center and reservation information. They have both Joe's House special rates and hospital-negotiated rates and there are over 200 cancer centers listed on the site today.
