Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park
I’m a huge baseball fan (Go Yanks!) and one of my ultimate goals is to not only go to all 30 major league ballparks but to do it in 30 days. It would be pretty cool, eh? This summer I was able to add a park I had never been to before and it just so happens to be the one in all of today’s major newspapers: Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park. Here’s my story from a July game when the Phillies came from behind to beat the Braves.

Qantas A380 VIP Flight With John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John
Just to give you the inside scoop about Qantas' A380, the world's biggest commercial aircraft, which you have probably seen all over the news this week. As you can see from the picture, I was fortunate enough to be one of the 150 guests to go on an exclusive two-hour "VIP" flight that included Qantas ambassador John Travolta and Australian singer Olivia Newton-John. Here's my story and two minute Video.

PARTY AT LAX TO SALUTE IT'S 80TH Anniversary
The museum is a joint venture of the Flight Path Learning Center of Southern California, a nonprofit community group organized in 1995 to develop and promote the museum, and Los Angeles World Airports, the City agency which operates LAX. The salute is Flight Path's 12th annual fundraiser. Emphasizing Flight Path's educational mission, each gala features presentation of the Clay Lacy and Charles "Pete" Conrad scholarships to students planning careers in aviation or aerospace. The competitive selections are made by panels of aviation professionals, according to Flight Path President Rowena Ake.
"Education is the heart of our work at Flight Path," said Ake. "We want our guests to appreciate this while they have an enjoyable evening."
Dinner will be served outside under a big tent with an amazing view of the airfield. The evening's entertainment will feature The LAX Idol group on-stage, the Hyperion Outfall Serenaders jazz combo on the patio, and the Beach Cities Swing Band for after-dinner dancing. Guests also will have an opportunity to view aviation memorabilia and flight simulators in the museum and vintage aircraft on the tarmac, including the museum's historic DC-3.
Flight Path's galleries feature an array of memorabilia, including current and vintage aircraft models, airline pilot and flight attendant uniforms from Pan Am, TWA and other carriers, and classic photos of aviation pioneers and airport history. An on-site research library was formally dedicated earlier this year in honor of William A. Schoneberger, noted aviation historian and author.
The Flight Path Learning Center and Museum is situated in the Imperial Terminal, 6661 W. Imperial Highway, Los Angeles. It is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission and parking are free. For driving and parking directions and other information call (310) 215-5291.

WEBSITE OF THE DAY: MedJet.com
Since I alluded to MedjetAssist in this week’s story, I thought I’d tell you all about them. I’ve been a member since 2000 and for anyone who is traveling more than 150 miles from home, especially internationally, you will want to listen up. MedjetAssist is the premier emergency medical evacuation membership program for travelers. If you are hospitalized more than 150 miles from home—virtually anywhere in the world—MedjetAssist will review your condition with the attending medical staff and your own physician(s) and provide a medically equipped and staffed aircraft to fly you free of charge to your hospital of choice. That’s right! So if you are in Kenya and get severely hurt, you don’t need to worry about spending months in some crazy hospital or worry about footing the bill for a $150,000+ private jet. MedjetAssist will take care of it. Don’t just take my word for it. They are the exclusive provider of worldwide air ambulance and medical repatriation services for AARP. Check to see if you are covered by your insurance or credit card. If not, this might just be the best $175 you have ever spent (that’s the annual fee). Short-term memberships start at $85.

WEBSITE OF THE DAY: JoesHouse.org
Here’s a fantastic idea: a lodging website that caters to cancer patients, their families and caregivers that must travel for treatment. Joe’s House is a nationwide, non-profit organization, which serves cancer patients, their advocates, and social workers by providing a national online directory of local lodging accommodations. Their website offers over 1,200 different types of lodging facilities, including individual homes, hospitality houses, other non-profit housing such as Ronald McDonald Houses and Hope Lodges, apartments, hotels, hostels and more.
Users may search for lodging by city or cancer center and the site is free to use. They have detailed information about each facility such as amenities, distance from the cancer center and reservation information. They have both Joe's House special rates and hospital-negotiated rates and there are over 200 cancer centers listed on the site today. For those who don’t have Internet access, call their toll-free line: 877-JOES-HOU, which is 877-563-7468.
