WEBSITE OF THE DAY: Beatbox.tele2.se

Beatbox.tele2.se

This site is for all you travelers out there who also aspire to be music producers ... and are bored as can be in your hotel room. This Swedish website lets users create and record their own loops so they can be played back and sent to friends. It takes about a minute to load but it’s hilarious so be patient.

WEBSITE OF THE DAY: DelayCast.com

DelayCast.com
Ever wonder if your flight is going to depart on time or not? Well, you might have better luck playing roulette! But for better odds, log on to DelayCast.com to find out what these experts predict. The estimates are based on historical data and it depends on which airport you are flying to/from and the time of your flight. They project four to five months in the future but they do not take into consideration "in the moment" delays such as weather or technical difficulties. I’m not too sure how accurate this information is, even though they claim that analytical professionals with a strong base in statistics run it.

WEBSITE OF THE DAY: Where In The World Is Matt Lauer?

Where In The World Is Matt Lauer?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24359232/
I don’t watch much TV but each year, the one thing I never want to miss is the one-week period when The Today Show’s Matt Lauer takes to the skies on his yearly jaunt around the world. In just five days, he travels as much as I do in a month! Now that’s incredible and I admire his stamina ... though, let’s not forget that he’s being whisked around in a private jet. This week, I’m out of the country too so I’m not watching from home but rather I’m tuning in on my computer using Slingbox or online at MSNBC.com. You can too!

This website created by the Travel Industry Association (TIA) shows the spending, tax revenues and number of jobs generated by travel in the country. You can also find this same information for a particular state or even your congressional district. It also has information about inbound travel from key markets with the latest statistics and most important trends in international travel to the U.S., including arrivals and spending. There’s also a section for the travel industry, including international travel promotion, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and the Visa Waiver Program.

NEWS ALERT: Eos Airlines has filed for bankruptcy

As predicted, Eos Airlines has filed for bankruptcy and is ceasing all flights after today. It’s a sad day because Eos was one of my favorite airlines. Here’s the link to my Story and Video from my trip to London a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, Eos won’t be the only airline ceasing operations this year and possibly even this week. With such high jet fuel prices, they just can’t compete.

Weekly News Roundup for JohnnyJet.com

Here’s a roundup of news stories that JohnnyJet.com was recently mentioned in. So I figured we might as well toot our own horn, if that’s okay! This week, we received some great press ... from blogs to major network news stories. It all began with Anita Dunham-Potter’s story Cruise-onomics: 12 money-saving tips on MSNBC. Then, our buddy Max Hartshorne blogged about us on AirportParkingReservations.com. Arlene Fleming from About.com also blogged about one of our deals and Lori Rackl from the Chicago Sun Times featured us as one of the "Six must-have web sites for savvy travelers". I know it’s not as glamorous as two weeks ago when we were featured twice on ABC News, then on WGN Radio and in Travel + Leisure Magazine but it was still a fantastic week! Thank you for all the support!
