REVIEW FROM JOHNNY’S NIECE’S TEACHER: The children enjoyed both DVDs (Families of Australia and Going to School in India). The Australian one gave them an idea of what it was like growing-up in a rural community and a city. The children in the film were around the same age as my 3rd graders so they were able to relate to them in that respect. They also learned some new terms for things. The class and I particularly liked the India one though. We used the subtitles so we could understand anything the children said. The narrations were done by children and were quite good. I think this film also points out the inequities of how girls are treated in some of the areas. But the thing that I think really stood out was the beautiful colors in the film (the water, plants, clothing, etc.) Very well done!
