NEW TRAVEL BOOK:The Rough Guide to Travel Survival 1
Whether you’re visiting a politically unstable country, hiking in a remote region, or find yourself in an unexpectedly dire situation in the course of your more "standard" travels, knowing how best to react can be the difference between life and death. To say nothing of the brownie points you’ll earn from fellow survivors for your stellar new rope-tying abilities. With the all-new Rough Guide to Travel Survival on hand, you’ll never be at a loss for practical information on how to deal with the worst that the sun, sleet, and sea serve up. This slim, information-packed volume is indispensable for every adventurous traveler, aid worker, or foreign correspondent whether you’re trekking through the 6% of the world covered in rainforest or are forging through a distinctly more urban jungle and need to spot scams and thwart pickpockets. From avoiding and treating altitude sickness to building an A-frame to eating ants, this bountiful book - the latest from acclaimed travel writer Doug Lansky - has got you covered, come hell or high water.
Talking about frequent flier miles, on 15 Feb, US Airways is going to close any Dividend Miles accounts that have been inactive for the last three years. If you have an inactive Dividend Miles account and stand to lose the miles you've accumulated in it, here's a thought - why not donate the miles to either the Make a Wish Foundation or the Hurricane Katrina Fund. Log in to your Dividend Miles account and select the option to donate your miles. But do it before 15 Feb. SOURCE: TheTravelInsider.Info

Morning arrives cold and crisp on this gray winter day in northern Vermont. I'm a mile deep into the state's Kingdom Trails network, snowshoes under foot and a trail map in hand. The trees are heavy with snow, the river banks lined with two-foot drifts, and I'm following fox tracks through the otherwise untouched wilderness. As winter trails go, this one's a keeper. The trail map, on the other hand, could use some improvement.
