- New Delhi Subways Face New Problem -- Monkeys:
THE NEW DELHI SUBWAY SYSTEM IS TOO ATTRACTIVE, AT LEAST FOR PRIMATES, it seems. According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, India's Delhi Metro has hired a langurwalla, a man who handles langurs, a fierce-looking primate and one of the only creatures known to scare monkeys, in the hope of preventing them from boarding metro trains and upsetting passengers. According to the paper, in June a monkey boarded a train at the underground Chawri Bazaar station and frightened passengers by repeatedly scowling at them for three stops. Passengers had to be detrained while authorities chased the elusive creature, which also caused delays. SOURCE: www.businesstravelerusa.com/bte
