Though not directly travel-related, both of these tips will save you aggravation and money while traveling on the road. Best of all, they can be shared with your non-traveling friends.
1. DoNotCall.gov. Log on here to register your phone number(s) with the National Do Not Call Registry. This should prevent telemarketers from calling you for five years (at which point you must reregister).
2. Looking for the phone number for a restaurant, hotel -- or anywhere -- but don’t want to pay $1.50 for dialing 411? Avoid those cell and home phone charges by dialing 1 800 FREE 411 (1 800-373-3411). There's no charge, except for the minutes you spend making the call.
