If you buy prescription drugs in foreign countries, you might want to think again -- or at least check out this website and its chart before ordering. For example, in the United Kingdom Amyben is a brand name for amiodarone, used to treat abnormal heart rhythms. Taking Amyben instead of Ambien (zolpidem tartrate), a sleeping medicine marketed in the U.S., could lead to serious adverse effects. The FDA chart lists 105 U.S. brand-name drugs, their U.S. active ingredient, U.S. indications, foreign active ingredients, foreign indications, and which foreign country.
