As you make your travel plans, it's good to know where terrorist hotbeds and incidents are. This website maps out terrorism events and other suspicious activity reported to the press, by displaying them on a Google map. You'd be surprised to see how much activity is occurring right here in the U.S., including the incident of three men being arrested for climbing an airport fence in South Florida just a few days ago.
The folks at Lufthansa must be fans of the Traveler IQ Challenge on Facebook! (http://apps.facebook.com/travelpod-challenge/) They've created a similar game for their website. Though it’s not as addictive as Facebook's Traveler IQ (and the questions are limited to Europe, rather than being global) it’s still fun. Here's how it works: A jet takes off from the east coast of America. Then a name of a European city (that Lufthansa services, of course!) appears on-screen. Players have up to eight seconds in the first round, to click on a map and identify the correct destination. Once the plane lands, it calculates how close you are in distance to the destination and points are awarded accordingly. Rounds two and three get more difficult as the map loses its borders. Plus, to find out how you rank, you need to provide a username and email address. Hmmm ... I wonder if I will be getting deals from Lufthansa now? It would be pretty clever marketing, but it’s been almost a week and I haven’t been spammed.
