This week we don’t just have one Website of the Week but 10! That’s because I recently attended the Travel Goods Show in San Diego. It’s the world’s largest trade show for travel goods, with more than 40,000 products being showcased. Walking the floor, I discovered all kinds of fascinating new or improved gadgets. Here are some that stood out: The 1st Class Sleeper, The Neck Rest, The Plane Clean Air Filter, Wordlock, SeatKase (use voucher code johnnyjet for free shipping!) and these cool laundry/shampoo/conditioner/soap sheets that are the size of breath fresheners. But my two favorites were the travel rest pillow
(here’s the website) and
Lug Buddy. The latter is essentially a bungee cord that makes toting a
duffle bag on top of your roller a cinch (see my picture). I’m also glad I went because my carry-on luggage is on its last leg and the good folks over at Eagle Creek have kindly offered to send me some luggage samples so I can test them out. I’ll be sure to let you know what I think!
BONUS WEBSITE OF THE WEEK
Back in September, I showed a YouTube video of a completely packed commuter train in Mumbai, India. Well, here’s another video of a commuter train that I think was taken in Japan. Check it out and let me know which one you would rather go on -- I’ll see if I can arrange it.
This website isn’t directly travel related but obviously, the next president of the United States is going to impact our travels in one way or another. If you’re confused about your choices or feel that the media is swaying your vote, here’s a cool site that asks questions about what policies are important to you. After you’ve answered, it tells you in rank order which candidate best matches your views. You can answer 10 questions and get your results or keep going and answer all 25. This service isn’t funded by any party; it’s a nonpartisan candidate calculator.
