I usually don’t get political but I just couldn’t pass up this opportunity since it is travel-related and there’s no cost to American taxpayers.
The Travel Promotion Act will, for the first time, create a public-private partnership to promote travel to the United States, and help us compete
with other countries by sending more welcoming messages to our friends around the world. So, take 30 seconds to urge your senator to vote YES
on the Travel Promotion Act (S. 1023). The legislation will spur growth in America's travel community and in the U.S. economy. The
U.S. Travel Association has set up a link
(click here) that makes it super easy to tell your senator. Just enter your zip code and then on the next page, enter your name and address and click send. It literally took me 30 seconds.
Last week we featured the youngest guy sailing around the world by himself in a 36-foot boat. Well, I didn’t think that was going to be topped but you can be the judge of that! So hold onto your pants as I tell you about 42-year old Roz Savage. The England native is attempting to ROW across the Pacific. She became the first woman to row across the Atlantic in 2005 and has written a book about it. She completed a trip from San Francisco to Hawaii in 99 days and a million strokes and now she’s venturing to go from Hawaii to Australia! You can keep track of Roz in a number of places as she updates regularly on Blogger, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and iTunes using Solara Field Tracker GPS system. If you’re wondering why someone would do something as crazy as this, it’s to raise environmental awareness. More details about her can be found on YouTube.
I’ve never been to Vietnam but have always wanted to go. However, the one thing I’m not looking forward to is crossing the street.
I thought India and Thailand were crazy but all my friends who have traveled there say Vietnam is worse by far!
After seeing this video of the craziest intersection in the world, I’m not arguing. BTW: I hear the secret is to find a local
who is crossing and shadow them.
Do you love to pass time on the plane or in a car by playing video games?
I’m currently addicted to Spider Solitaire but many of my female friends are plugging away on their shiny new
Nintendo DS-es with the hot game of the season: the puzzle-based game of Professor Layton. I recently read that
Nintendo targets women travelers specifically between the ages of 25 and 34 because for some reason they can't resist visiting Professor Layton’s town of St. Mystere to help solve the mysterious puzzle. The game has more than 130 mini-game puzzles around every corner of the curious village so if you fall into it, it may be the perfect stimulating activity for summer travel or business trips.
