Here’s a great concept: an instant messenger service where English is instantly translated into a foreign language recipient’s language and vice versa. Fourteen languages are covered: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Dutch, Greek, Swedish, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Chinese Traditional and Simplified are all supported. So, no more misunderstandings!
Election day in the United States is around the corner (35 days from now) so I probably should have of sent this out earlier. But this website offers non-partisan voter registration, ballot request and help desk services for U.S. overseas citizens and uniformed services members and families. If this applies to you, check it out.
Here’s a fantastic idea: a lodging website that caters to cancer patients, their families and caregivers that must travel for treatment. Joe’s House is a nationwide, non-profit organization, which serves cancer patients, their advocates, and social workers by providing a national online directory of local lodging accommodations. Their website offers over 1,200 different types of lodging facilities, including individual homes, hospitality houses, other non-profit housing such as Ronald McDonald Houses and Hope Lodges, apartments, hotels, hostels and more.
Users may search for lodging by city or cancer center and the site is free to use. They have detailed information about each facility such as amenities, distance from the cancer center and reservation information. They have both Joe's House special rates and hospital-negotiated rates and there are over 200 cancer centers listed on the site today. For those who don’t have Internet access, call their toll-free line: 877-JOES-HOU, which is 877-563-7468.
