WEBSITE OF THE WEEK

    WEBSITE OF THE WEEK
  • CrankyConcierge.com

  • My buddy Brett Snyder, who provides snarky opinions on airlines and airports on his blog Cranky Flier, has just launched a new, unique service for travelers called Cranky Concierge. It’s a personalized air travel assistance company for those fliers who would like to have an airline dork watching over them. It’s not for savvy travelers who are well versed with the Internet. But for those passengers, they will provide flight planning, flight monitoring, delay and cancellation assistance and post-trip dispute assistance. Prices start at $30 (with a money-back guarantee). For more details and pricing information, log on to CrankyConcierge.com.

    BONUS WEBSITE OF THE WEEK
  • The Easiest 150 AA FF Miles You Will Ever Earn

  • American Airlines (AA) ran this promotion last year and it’s such a good deal we just had to feature it again. Normally, 150 bonus miles would cost you $150 if you are earning them from your Infinity credit card. So this is probably the easiest 150 AA miles you will ever earn without flying. Just watch this two-minute Bose noise cancelation headset video and answer the simple question at the end. I didn’t even pay attention and I answered it correctly! I did it a few days ago and the miles are already posted to my account. The offer ends October 14, 2009, so act now.

    TRAVEL PRODUCT OF THE WEEK
  • LoadedQuestions.com

  • These days, car trips don't seem to mean quality time with friends and family like they used to. Growing up, we didn’t have cell phones, iPods or DVD players so there was nothing else to do but play games to pass the time on the road. There are plenty of free games to play like Punch Buggy, I’m Going Fishing and Bringing … and Name That Tune. But if you want something with some more substance so you get to know your travel mates better, check out Loaded Questions. It can now be played on the go as it comes with a custom answer/score pad and custom spinner in a convenient ‘suitcase’ box. Sample questions range from: "If you could rename your parents, what names would you give them?" or "What kind of camp would you never want to attend?" It's made for four to six players, ages 10 to adult.

    TRAVEL VIDEO OF THE WEEK
  • Eating Balut

  • The video I had chosen to feature this week is set on the streets of Manila. But before we get to that, I’d like to extend my thoughts and prayers to all those who have been devastated by the floods in the Philippines and to all those who may have loved ones there. Click here to make a donation to relief efforts, through the American Red Cross.

I’ve never been to the Philippines and have always wanted to but I have often wondered if I would find the nerve to try the local delicacy I’ve heard so much about from my Filipino friends. Balut (duck embryo) can be found all over the streets of Manila but after watching this three-minute video, I don’t think I could do it. Could you?
