LAX: JET BLUE TO JFK & BOS
jetBlue’s award-winning service is now available from Burbank, Long Beach and LAX. The airline just started twice daily nonstop service from LAX and sale fares are as low as $109 between LAX and New York or Boston through June 26, 2009. At today's announcement, JetBlue's CEO Dave Barger made a (up to) $30,000 donation to support music education (www.VH1SaveTheMusic.com/JetBlue) in public schools in New York, Boston and Los Angeles. Also on hand were fifth-graders from The Hooper Elementary School Mariachi Ensemble and when they sang La Cucaracha (The Mexican Cockroach Song) I almost spit my cake out. Another highlight, besides getting a tour of BetaBlue (their spacious Airbus A320 with WiFi), was carrying an oversize pair of scissors on the plane, making an announcement and meeting Los Angeles Dodgers legend Steve Garvey. I was very touched by your story about "Going places with your Mom". My wife and I are going to the UK (York) at the end of May for a visit with family and to celebrate my mom's 100th year birthday. Mike I - Las Cruces, NM
I enjoyed Tom's piece on Puerto Vallarta - another good one, Tom! Tom captured the feel of the place, not just of the hotels where he stayed, but of the village, the people, and what he found in the area more generally. One topic I think Tom covers especially well is food and drink. He enjoys food and drink enough (I've shared some with him) that he is able to give the reader an understanding of the cultural elements that make up the cuisine as well as clear descriptions of the food and the various liquid offerings, all of which makes me hungry and thirsty. I also like the way Tom makes sure to mention the staff, who quite often are overlooked and yet are instrumental in making for a memorable stay (or not). Well done, and thanks for sharing. I look forward to another report by Tom Calicchio! Karl Z- Florida
