DizzyCity is patenting the concept of a navigable virtual-reality city-scape
on the Internet. The core of the user experience on DizzyCity is
interaction with the virtual city’s 2500 360°-by-360° virtual tours.
DizzyCity creates these virtual tours by photographing the city with high-end
digital cameras fitted with customized 180°
fish-eye lenses. For each location, two 180° images are digitized
and “stitched” together to form a 360° whole. They are then linked
to adjacent panoramas, and to items of interest on the adjacent block,
with “hotlinks” in the panoramas themselves. Within each panorama, visitors
can use their mouse or keyboard arrows to move the camera around 360°
and zoom in or out. Clicking on the street horizon instantly transports
the visitor to the next block. Clicking on an object transports the visitor
to a new page with detailed information. Below each panorama, a list of
additional hyperlinks directs visitors to every point of interest on the
block.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WHERE'S
JOHNNY
JET?<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Greetings! I just returned from an action packed
week of traveling around the U.S. I did the ol' triangle ticket:
JFK-LAX-MCO-JFK (If you don't know your airport codes, shame on you. Translated:
New York-Los Angeles- Orlando- New York).
Many of you complained that last week's newsletter
was lame because their weren't that many pictures, well you asked for it!
This week I am posting over 25! So get ready to click!
Last week I wrote the newsletter from the plane ride to MCO. So I begin
this week's newsletter from hot, humid, and sticky Orlando! We arrived
around dinner time, jumped in a phat (volvo) rental car from Hertz, and
drove to the Sheraton World Resort. I booked this trip from the Hotel
banner on Johnny Jet, the cost was a mere $75
a night. When they say up to 70% off, they mean it. When we checked in,
the front desk agent looked at the price and said "Dang! Everyone else
is paying at least $179." Just goes to show why you should tell all your
friends to check out www.JohnnyJet.com.
We quickly unpacked and headed to one of my favorite restaurants in
Orlando,
Bahama
Breeze. After a couple Strawberry Beaches (this virgin drink ranks
up next to a Lava Flow from Dukes in Hawaii), and dinner we headed
down
International
drive to go back to our hotel. As you can see Int'l drive is full
of tourist spots, including that upside down building.
Thursday we finished with our work early and headed over to where you
are supposed to go while in Orlando- a theme park. This time it was Universal's
Hard
Rock Hotel (can't wait to stay there). Once in the park we checked
out a couple of my favorite rides- the Rip
Saw and Jurassic
Park (we
got soaked on both). I passed on the Incredible Hulk roller
coaster and the Spider man ride (just not my thang, you know). To get out
of the park you have to go through Universal's City
Walk (it's like the one in L.A., but a lot smaller). If you go
down to Orlando make sure you check out the new Orlando
Portal we made. We were in Florida for only 2 nights then back up the
coast to NYC/CT. We booked our flight home on the semi-new low fare airline:
Jet
Blue. I like Jet Blue's attitude.
They fly only brand new A320's and they're real flexible about changing
dates ($25 change fee compared to the big boys $100). They also have free
live TV (24 cable channels) on board (I
was watching the weather channel while waiting for the thunder
storms to pass). While on the runway for over an hour, the flight
attendants came by with bottled
water, which I thought was pretty cool. The only bummer was we
were so hungry and the snack they served was a choice of: Bagel Chips,
Animal cookies or nasty blue
potato chips. I was so hungry I almost ate the leather seat cushion.
After we landed I ran over to the snack counter before heading into
NYC. I was only there for a few hours then I bolted out to the country
to see my family. Amber came in later that night and she was excited
to see me and some fire flies. Fire Flies? In case you have never seen
them, my eighth grade description of them is: they are little
bugs that light up. We used to catch them as kids (Amber
still does), and keep them in a jar with holes in it for days.
Enough about insects.
On Sunday morning my brother called saying, "Hurry down to the marina,
if you want to spend the day on the boat". Well, of course we wanted to!
We cruised to the docks to find my brother
struggling to get the boat started. Bummer! The mechanic that my
bro is, had it fixed in a matter of minutes, and we were off on a three
hour tour, a three hour tour.... We all put lots of sun screen
on, and my Dad
as usual put on a little bit too much. We were almost out of the harbor
when we heard
sirens
and some cop yelling, "PULL OVER"! Pull over? Where officer? Luckily,
my Dad and brother knew the cops and they let us go after they saw our
registration and didn't bust Frank for not having a boat license.
Frank was
feeling mighty strong after that ordeal, and his girlfriend
too. We went out to an area called Manresa to water ski and ran into our
old buddy Sam
the man (and company). After a full day on Long Island Sound,
we
headed back home, so we could relax
on land.
That evening before dinner my Dad challenged my buddy Rocco and Amber
to a game
of Bocce. If you never heard of Bocce, then you're probably not
Italian. Anyway, it's a cool game and I will put my Dad
up against anyone, he's the champ. We capped the night off by having
a picnic while watching Shakespeare
on the Sound in Rowayton. It's free and is still playing
until July 1, so head out there. Warning! If you do go, make sure
you bring OFF bug spray because the mosquitos are killers. They bit me
so bad, that I lasted about 10 minutes before I ran for cover in the car.
My Dad is Johnny Jet's biggest promoter, no matter where he is he brings
newspaper clippings of Johnny Jet and passes them out to friends and strangers.
He also puts them on public bulletin boards. He's also always telling me
things I should do. Usually they are crazy ideas, but he did come up with
one I liked. He told me to do a "Ask Johnny Jet". This is where I can answer
one weekly question publicly (I am always getting questions, so why not
share them with with everyone). I can't answer all of the questions
I receive, so please understand. This is the last question I received:
ASK JOHNNY JET
Q>Are there any hotels in airports? Cindy (from ?)
A>Yes there are hotels in many airports in the U.S.. In fact
I was in a Hyatt the other day at MCO (Orlando Int'l Airport). Other airport
hotels that I know of are: ORD (Chicago O'Hare has a Hilton), Dallas,
and Houston. Keep in mind almost all airports have hotels within a mile.
FUNNIEST THING I HEARD ALL WEEK:
Comes from my good friend Rocco Giacco.
When I showed him this
Pic and asked him if he liked it, he said "Yeah it's cool, did
you take that through the window"? I said "Yeaaaahhh".

What to Do When the Weather Does Not Cooperate
In most places, there will be times when Mother Nature just doesn't
want to cooperate with your travel plans. So when a winter storm--or summer
hurricane--is looming or in full force, keep these tips in mind.
If it is already looking fierce outside, call before you leave for
the airport and find out what the status is for your flight. Call your
travel agent or the airline's automated arrivals and departure line, or
visit the airline's Web site, if available. Don't call the airline's toll-free
reservations number for updates--you could be put on hold too long.
Keep your eye on the local news or the Weather Channel, or go to the
Web site at www.weather.com or cnn.com/weather to find out if a storm is
brewing in your area or destination. If bad weather looks likely, you may
not want to leave for the airport until you've checked on your flight.
If you are already at the airport and departure looks unlikely, try
to make a reservation at a nearby hotel that offers free shuttle service.
Don't wait too long, because airport hotels get booked up as fast as the
flights are cancelled.
If it is absolutely essential that you make an out-of-town meeting
or presentation when bad weather looms, consider leaving the night before.
It is also wise to take a cab or public transportation to the airport if
a winter storm is a possibility, so you don't have to worry about digging
your car out of the snow.
Bring a snack along in the event that the airport food leaves something
to be desired--or worse, in case the airport runs out of food (which has
happened during unexpected storms). A bagel, pretzels, or dried fruits
and nuts are nutritious, don't spoil, and don't take up a lot of space.
Weather emergencies usually allow for airlines to relax rules when
rerouting, changing, or cancellation fees are concerned.

Packing Tips For Summer Travelers(From
Bestfares.com)
The busy season for travel is upon us, with more Americans vacationing
this time of year. Stay ahead of the travel game by planning wisely and
avoiding problems later down the road. Pack your bags early (and correctly)
so that you don't have bags under your eyes when beginning your trip this
spring and summer.
The travel guides and groups claim that mispacking is a major source
of frustration for stressed out travelers. To help ease your minds and
reduce your frustrations, here are some luggage handling tips you can use
before you leave.
-
Packing light is a key idea to keep in mind and perhaps your mantra to
chant while attempting to stuff your suitcase. Test your packing skills
and ease of maneuverability by walking around with your luggage. Make certain
you can manage it through airports, stairs and in vehicles. Breathable
fabrics like linen, cotton and polyester/nylon mixes can be packed the
tightest and are light and easy to wear. Keep in mind that you may be coming
back with more items than you left with, such as souvenirs. An extra space
of about 15 percent is a good rule of thumb.
-
Packing clothing that can be mixed and matched will go a long way to cover
your bases. A few versatile outfits can greatly expand your wardrobe without
vying for an enormous amount of packing space. Solid colors tend to go
well with numerous garments and may not show dirt as easily as others.
Wrinkle resistant and wrinkle proof fabrics minimize the need for an iron.
-
Pack materials that will suit all kinds of weather. You never know when
an unexpected storm can pop up to put a damper on your day. A waterproof
jacket will suffice for rain and the cold. A space-saving fold-up umbrella
that opens to full-size is an especially handy accessory.
-
It is not a good idea to carry large sums of cash on you. Traveler's checks,
credit, debit and ATM cards are better and give you more protection. It
is safer to only withdraw money in $100 increments as needed.
-
Keep toiletries and other personal items packed separately to avoid a mess.
Re-sealable bags and sturdy, spill-proof cases can work wonders, especially
if placed in a multi-sectioned overnight kit. If you would rather not keep
up with shampoo, soap and other sundries, most hotels furnish them or they
are easily available in gift shops and most discount stores.
The more efficient and well-thought out you can be in making advance preparations
will do much to alleviate stress and save you a hassle in the long run.
Often the best way to avoid trouble is by planning ahead, then you can
be ready for numerous situations.
