Johnny Jet takes fliers along for colorful ride

Thanks to an animated cursor that leaves a mouse trail of multicolored dots against a cloud-dappled blue sky, frazzled fliers in need of mental relaxation might be tempted to linger at Johnny Jet's front-door page (www.johnnyjet.com) before clicking through to the site itself.

Which would be a shame, because his cleanly designed, humor-infused travel portal directs road warriors to an eclectic variety of resources.

Webmaster John DiScala, a 31-year-old, Los Angeles-based college admissions officer who flies nearly 150,000 miles a year, supplies links to the usual suspects (airline, car rental and hotel Web sites), the resolutely practical (a Web-based translator, airline seat maps) and the decidedly offbeat (advice on how to join the Mile High Club).

A weekly newsletter incorporates a recommended Web site and live cam, plus links to recent travel news stories.
