PROFILE
Courtney Pulitzer's background in the Internet industry dates back to its nascency in 1994. Beginning her interactive career as a Web site designer, she developed Web sites for corporate clients at some of the top advertising agencies in New York. Her strong writing and marketing skills gained a great deal of attention when she began a social column in @NY, a regional online publication. The success of this column allowed Ms. Pulitzer to develop her own newsletter, The Cyber Scene, which currently goes out to over 50,000 readers. This popular weekly newsletter tracks the events, companies, people and culture in wired towns around the world. Contributors from around the globe offer their perspective on the scene in their towns as well. Due to the history and quality of reporting, Ms. Pulitzer and the newsletter have become a trusted resource.
Addressing a desire to get together with friends in the industry, Ms. Pulitzer planned her Cocktails with Courtney events to be once a month in New York. These events drew the original movers and shakers in Silicon Alley's history and the new up-and-comers wishing to rub shoulders with this set. As people in other cities read about these in the newsletter, requests for Cocktails with Courtney events sprung up across the U.S. To date, there have been events in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, DC, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Vancouver and London and other cities.
Today she is the president of Courtney Pulitzer Creations, a company that focuses on facilitating networking for Internet-related professionals on and offline in wired cities around the world. The mission of Courtney Pulitzer Creations is to advance global networking of those in wired and wired-related fields, and it does so through its key properties: The Cyber Scene newsletter, Cocktails with Courtney events, the Morning Circle and Cyber Scene TV. The Morning Circle brings panelists and attendees together for engaging dialogue and a complete breakfast in a roundtable setting. Cyber Scene TV highlights industry leaders and events in the Internet. Through these and public appearance work, Ms. Pulitzer introduces industry influencers, executives, media and investors to one another.
Ms. Pulitzer's well-rounded knowledge base and expertise in the new media and technology industry makes her a frequent source in many publications. She has also been cited and featured in various media including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Business Week, Red Herring, the New Yorker, The Industry Standard, Business 2.0, Live With Regis & Kathie Lee and CNN. Ms. Pulitzer served as a contributing editor to Yahoo! Internet Life and contributing writer to the Iconocast newsletter and Hampton's Country magazine.
Ms. Pulitzer is active in her community as well. She has planned and produced several charity events and volunteered for the New York New Media Association, MOUSE (Making Opportunities For Upgrading Schools and Education), HEAVEN (Helping, Educate, Activate, Volunteer & Empower via the Net) and the World Wide Web Artists Consortium, the latter of which she was a founding and current board member. She chaired and is a member of the New York Pops Musicians of Tomorrow committee and chairs the New Media committee with the New York Junior League.
