TIM'S ANSWERS

HOW OFTEN DO YOU FLY?
Much less than I used to. Security concerns? No. Rather, it's the sheer inconvenience, inefficiency and discomfort of air travel.
WHAT CLASS OF SERVICE DO YOU MOSTLY FLY IN?
Coach, with the occasional mileage upgrade.
FAVORITE AIRLINE?
American, since they implemented "More Room throughout Coach."
FAVORITE AIRCRAFT?
If the Enron Learjet isn't available, I'll settle for a B767.
FAVORITE HOTEL?
The Biltmore in downtown Los Angeles (the opposite of a modern cookie-cutter hotel)
FAVORITE AIRPORT?
Winston-Salem, NC (It's a single cinder block building, smaller than some airline airport lounges. Small is good!)
FAVORITE CITY?
New York (because you can go home again). Los Angeles (because it's not New York). Paris (for the old world). Tokyo (for the new).
AISLE OR WINDOW?
Aisle.
ETICKET OR PAPER?
Paper... until the e-tickets become widely transferable among airlines.
TRAVEL AGENT OR ONLINE?
Online.
FAVORITE TRAVEL WEBSITE?
SmarterLiving (disclosure: I'm a contributor)
FAVORITE TRAVEL COMPANION?
My wife, Grayum.
BEST TRAVEL TIP:
Speak up! In general, I'm not a fan of the "Crabby Traveler" attitude... it amounts to cheap posturing and, from a consumer advocacy standpoint, it changes nothing. Now, however, is the time to complain long and loud to the airlines and the government about the deplorable state of air travel. Be vocal, or be prepared to endure the long lines, haphazard security and shoddy service for years to come. Thank YOU! Johnny
