Actual Miles Flown Since 1/1/00
Joycelyn Robichaud (CAN) and I went down in the first round to
Carrasco-Velasco (SPA) 7-6(7), 6-2. We fought back from a break of serve
down twice in the first set to get to the tiebreaker and were down 3-0 in the
breaker before coming back to be up 4-3. My double fault at 6-6 didn't help
matters, but overall I played a good set and we just missed sneaking out the
set. Once they got the cofnidence of winning the first set, they played
better in the second set and got a few breaks and it was over pretty quickly.
Elena Tatarakova (UKR) and I played mixed yesterday vs. Arent (USA) -
Nyborg (SWE). Nicole Arent had set me up with Elena because neither one of
us had a partner and Nicole and I had played together at the Australian Open
and so she tried to help a brother out. They came out playing great and won
the first set 6-3. We were playing well too, so we just figured we'd keep
going and see if they could keep it up. We got on a roll and won the second
set 6-1 and in a major battle, pulled out a long game at 4-3 on our serve and
won the match 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. We play again late today vs. Delaitre-Tauziat
(FRA); they're a tough team with the home crowd behind them, so we will have
to be ready for another battle.
