It is the cold and flu season, you know. I'm battling a nasty little cold, but Levinski-Stepanek (CZE) are in a little worse shape and pulled out of our second round match. Levinski pulled out yesterday and we weren't scheduled to play until today, so one could speculate that since Stepanek is playing in India next week, Mr. Levinski did his partner a solid by pulling out of the tournament and allowing Mr. Stepanek to catch an earlier flight; that is if one were to speculate. Sander Groen and I went down today to Knowle-Kohlman (AUT/GER). We started out great and were up 3-1 and break point in the first set and then the momentum shifted. We played a couple of loose service games and they were returning very well which fueled a five game run for them to win the first set 6-3. We had a chances to break early in the second, but we were just a little unlucky not to get the lead; I nailed a volley on break point after a net exchange that would have most likely been a winner had it not clipped the top of the net and came back to our side. After 3-1 in the first, that's how things went and we lost 6-3, 6-4. We played pretty well, but didn't win the right points. Next Email: Looks like I'm off to Copenhagen next, but not for a few days. My round the world ticket that I'm so proud of has me flying SAS airlines from Wroclaw to Copenhagen nonstop; unfortunately, they fly every day except Saturday. At least I'll be able to load up on some Kielbasa over the weekend. Next Email:
Played in Copenhagen last week with Cyril Suk (CZE). It was my first time in Copenhagen and it was a quick trip as we lost to Landsberg-Wakefield (SWE/RSA) 6-2, 6-4. We actually started up well and were up 2-0, but the match turned swiftly and we were on the wrong side of the momentum. Didn't get to see too much of Copenhagen, but we
did get to choose the
"Face of Copenhagen Open 2001" at the player party. Another tough duty for me, but I did my best. |
