PROFILE

2-4x/month
IN A YEAR HOW MANY MILES/POINTS DO YOU EARN?
50-75,000?
WHAT CLASS OF SERVICE DO YOU MOSTLY FLY IN?
coach, always coach
FAVORITE AIRLINE?
Continental, but primarily because they have a few direct flights on routes i fly at least once/year.
FAVORITE AIRCRAFT?
BIG, leaky older planes - cabin air is far less harsh
FAVORITE HOTEL?
the Beachcomber in San Clemente, tho it's not for most people - no phones, no cable, tight parking, non-existent service
FAVORITE AIRPORT?
that's like asking Dante "favorite bolgia of hell?"
FAVORITE CITY?
NYC, without hesitation. manhattan was my home for over a decade, now it's a home away from home. AISLE OR WINDOW?
window - easier to sleep, and i'll never tire of aerial views
ETICKET OR PAPER?
with hefty surcharges for paper, eticket - save for in the dead of winter, on itineraries with critical connections, or when flying Northwest
TRAVEL AGENT OR ONLINE?
i've used travel agents now and then for special/unusual trips, but online as a rule; there are so many personal variables on any trip, i'd rather have that control
FAVORITE TRAVEL WEBSITE?
whew, there are lots; i check cnn and msnbc for travel wire stories; joe brancatelli's no nonsense columns and chris elliott's sites to see what they're thinking about, and for the broad view, can't forget johnny jet!
FAVORITE TRAVEL COMPANION?
Would my girlfriend Lori get mad if i said my surfboard? Uh... my girlfriend Lori.
BEST TRAVEL TIP:
having doled out likely hundreds or thousands of travel tips, i have many favorites, but in the present travel environment i'd have to say "fly nonstop."
