Reader tip 5Extra Chargers
Each Friday, we’re featuring a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from Karen I. from Lecanto, FL, who says:

“What’s the one thing always left behind in hotels? Chargers! All kinds of them, and if you forget to bring yours, fret not. Just ask the front desk clerk if you can go through their charger collection. There’s a very good chance you won’t have to buy one, and the hotel will gladly give it to you for free, as housekeeping often finds them in the rooms still plugged into the wall.”

Hotels will usually ask you return the charger, but still a great tip—and depending on where you are, it can sometimes work with adaptors as well. Thanks Karen!

Hi John and other readers. Sort of in line with chargers, there’s currently a Kickstarter project running in the funding stage for a bag (various configurations) with a built-in battery and plugs. It looks clever and well thought out. I’m risking my cash on it because my old Jansport day pack is about done for. (NOTE: I have no interest in this project other than that of a backer) Just in case anyone else is interested, here’s the Kickstarter link:

Many hotels now have a limited number of chargers available to borrow that they purchased and own. One of my favorite new chains is Hyatt Place because they offer things like this, jump starts, and various other items as well as a great free breakfast.
