Paris in Love (Random House, 2012) by Eloisa James is a book that shows Paris in a different light than the one you may be used to. The main character moves to Paris with her husband and two kids after being diagnosed with cancer. Having lived in Paris myself, it was great reading the detailed descriptions of the streets of this city and feeling the magic that makes Paris … Paris! Within the pages of this book, I traveled to Paris vicariously through the author, discovered new places, and understood what makes Paris so special through someone else’s eyes: The joie de vivre, the food, and the French! The two kids in the book and their anecdotes are funny and touching. It was a pleasure reading this book and I definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Paris. Especially the “very idiosyncratic guide to a few places in Paris” at the end of the book will provide any traveler with great insight and tips.
