Now that people are starting to travel again and are looking for ways to save time and money, one way to do that is to take public transportation. One of the best apps to use to find out how to get from Point A to Point B is Moovit. First of all, it’s free. Secondly, they have pretty much every place covered with over 100 countries from Albania to Vietnam, as well as almost 200 cities in the United States from Albany, Georgia (I’d never heard of it either) to Yuma County, Arizona.

I just did a search on their website to go from JFK Airport (JFK) to Grand Central using moovitapp.com and their information is just okay. I would have been better off using Google Maps.

However, their app is where they shine. As you can see from the screenshots below, I input the same destinations and the app quickly provided step-by-step directions, times and prices.

They even give you Uber and Lyft times and prices.

Of course, everyone thinks to use Google Maps first and that’s okay but when you want to take public transportation, Moovit is a step above. I especially like that they give live updates for any service outages and accurate timetable schedules for buses, trains, subways and ferries.
Do you use Moovit or something else? Let me know in the comments.

I’ve been using the app From Rome to Rio for a couple years, with great success. Provides public transit info, too. Haven’t found any incorrect info so far, unlike Google Maps or Apple’s Map app; Google Maps is by far the worst with incorrect directions.
