SearchingDon’t Try to Get Your Stolen Phone Back
A few months ago, I featured a tip about the iPhone app that will show you exactly where your iPhone or iPad is, if you lose it or just can’t find it around the house. Sadly, yesterday, we learned that a teen in London, Ontario, Canada, was gunned down while trying to track down his lost cellphone. In the CBC News article, police are rightly, “warning anyone who uses an app to track a lost or stolen phone, to use caution when entering what might be a dangerous situation.” I should have put this advice in my original tip. The app is great if you lose your phone but if it gets stolen or ends up in the wrong hands, don’t try to be a hero. Instead, contact the authorities to get your device back as it’s not worth getting hurt or worse, killed, just to get your phone or tablet back.

in the london case the phone was originally lost in a taxi then taken by someone else. so if you notice its in a area you know you did not just leave there then get the police involved
