JottHow to Text on a Plane Without Wi-Fi or Cellular Connection
Messaging app Jott is arguably the most popular app kids are using in schools right now, as it doesn’t require a cellular or Wi-Fi connection. Many little kids these days get devices that don’t support cellular service. In other cases, their parents don’t want to pay for it. And many schools don’t have Wi-Fi for the kids, so they use Jott to communicate, as it works using Bluetooth.

Guess where it also works: On planes! If you’re separated from your travel companion on the plane and want to communicate without awkwardly leaning over someone, or blocking the aisle, then sign up to Jott. It’s free and available on both iOS and Android.

It pings every time a message comes in so just make sure you turn the sound off so you don’t annoy your fellow passengers.

H/T to Dan Nainan.

FYI: This post was originally (yesterday) a Travel App of the Week post.

Seems a lot of folks are saying wi fi is needed. What’s up with that?

I always here you are not supposed to use BT on a plane. Wi-Fi is ok. I dont even think that even cellular networks disturb the plane systems on new jets.

And that brings us back to the digital age where people sit accross each other and dont talk anymore they text each other.

You shouldnt do that on a plane. Go and talk to your seat mate or other people on the plane in real life not through an app…

why is free speech censored on your blog? My comment never made it to be published. I just wrote my personal honest opinion, and thats for what comments are for. If you only like positive comments then you should stop doing this..

If you want you can email me, my email is with this comment.

I always publish comments and yours is now live. I’ve been traveling so that’s why it was delayed
