Where Are the Worst Drivers in America?
Since it’s summer and gas prices are low, you can expect to see more and more people taking road trips. In fact, according to AAA, the Fourth of July weekend saw a record number of travelers (43 million).

Allstate recently released its annual America’s Best Drivers Report, which ranks the safest drivers in 200 of the United States’ largest cities. According to the report, the safest city in America to drive in is Brownsville, Texas, and the least safe for the second year in a row is Boston. The latter surprised me because in my opinion, the worst drivers in America are in South Florida. Do you agree with the report? If not, where do you think the best and worst drivers in America are?

100% Correct. I live in SW FL, and it is horrific. Perhaps due to the fact that for 6 months out of the year, we are overloaded with “Snowbirds”. It does not help that the roads cannot any longer handle the amount of cars on the them. The roads were not constructed for the amount of traffic we see. With this in mind, they have been expanding the roads, hence, changing traffic patterns/flows/ round-a-bouts. Unfortunately when the snowbirds come back, patterns are not how they were the previous year. I am also guessing that the age of most of SW FL residents does not make it easier either. The older folks do tend to drive a little slower, causing the younger folks to get outraged and drive like crazy. Sometimes you thank your lucky stars when arriving at your destination in one piece.

I was a little surprised by the report and do agree with your assessment of S. Florida. I am a permanent resident. We have a lot of elderly in addition to tourists from all around the world that coupled with the condition of I 95 makes for a hazardous driving situation.

I agree about S. Fl. I lived in Highland Beach Fl for 30 years until I moved to TX. I believe that the Snow- Birds come to S. FL for the Season. They rent cars and are dangerous as they have used the N.Y. Subway system and Cabs for most of their lives. Many are on medications that should preclude them from driving. Pedestrians and Bicyclists are not safe either from these drivers.
