American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark Limited-Time Offers

In order to get a better understanding of which one might be better for you, we will break down each offer then compare them. Both exciting offers are some of the largest limited-time offers you could earn. These cards are also some of the best small business credit cards for travel rewards.

Let’s dive into this American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark limited-time offer review.

American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark: Business Platinum American Express Card Limited Time Offer

The Business Platinum® Card from American Express welcome offer is the ability to earn up to 75,000 Membership Rewards points.

To earn the full bonus amount you will need to spend $20,000 within the first 3 months. As this is a tiered welcome bonus, you only need to spend $10,000 to earn the first portion of the bonus offer.

You get your bonus points in two different spending milestones in the first 3 months of account opening:

  • Get 50,000 bonus points when you spend $10,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months
  • Get the final 25,000 points when you spend an additional $10,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months

Also, you get one free year of Platinum Global Access from WeWork when you register by December 31, 2019.

Qualify for this Offer

You can qualify for this bonus offer when you meet these basic requirements:

American Express only lets you earn a credit card welcome offer “once in a lifetime,”. Getting the Amex Business Platinum card may not be as hard to get as you might think either.

Redeeming Your Amex Business Platinum Bonus Points

Your 75,000 Membership Rewards bonus is most valuable when redeeming for award flights. Each point is worth at least 1 cent each when booking award flights. You have two different options to book award flights.

Book Award Flights on AmexTravel

Each point is worth 1 cent each when booking on AmexTravel.com. This means the entire 75,000 bonus points are worth $750. However, you can get up to 35% of your points back for a second redemption. So, each point can be worth 1.35 cents each thanks to this redemption bonus.

You get 35% of your redeemed points back for any award flight booked on AmexTravel for your airline of choice. Plus, get 35% of your points back when booking a first-class or business class award flight on all airlines in Amex Travel. You can get up to 500,000 redeemed points back per year.

Membership Rewards Point Transfers

The second (and potentially more valuable option) is transferring your Membership Rewards to the following airline partners:

  • Aer Lingus
  • Aeromexico
  • Aeroplan
  • Air France KLM
  • Alitalia
  • ANA
  • Asia Miles
  • Avianca LifeMiles
  • British Airways
  • Delta Air Lines
  • El Al Israel Airlines
  • Emirates
  • Etihad
  • Hawaiian Airlines
  • Iberia
  • JetBlue
  • Qantas
  • Singapore Airlines
  • Virgin Atlantic

Most of these airline partners let you transfer points at a 1:1 ratio. So if you transfer 1,000 Membership Rewards to your Delta SkyMiles account, you now have 1,000 SkyMiles.

It makes sense to transfer when you only need a few more points to book an award flight. Or, when your points are worth at least 1.35 cents each (if you can maximize the AmexTravel flight redemption bonus). For most airlines, you can easily get at least 1.5 to 2 cents per mile by booking directly through the airline.

Booking premium cabin flights means it’s not uncommon for each point can be worth up to 6 cents each.

One of the best transfer partners is Singapore Airlines. Their Singapore Suites class is one of the best first-class flights. But you may also appreciate booking a round-trip main cabin flight from the U.S. West Coast to Hawaii for 24,000 miles on Alaska Airlines. If award space is available, you might be able to stretch your mileage by booking partner flights.

Other Amex Business Platinum Benefits

The Business Platinum® Card from American Express is full of travel and business benefits including:

  • $200 annual airline travel credit
  • Complimentary airport lounge access at 1,200+ lounges
  • Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit
  • Up to $200 annual Dell statement credits (enrollment required)
  • Earn 5x Membership Rewards on airfare and hotels booked on AmexTravel

It is also one of the best metal credit cards you could own.

American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark: Capital One Spark Business Card Limited Time Offers

Moving on in this American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark limited-time offer review, let’s talk about Capital One. There are 5 Capital One Spark business credit cards but we will be focusing on two today – the Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business and the Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business.

The bonus offer and redemption options depend on which Spark credit card you get:

Because these cards are separate products, you can earn a limited-time offer for the Spark Miles and Spark Cash.

This bonus is only you if you haven’t earned a signup bonus on the respective Spark credit card before. You can also check your Capital One Spark approval odds before you apply to see which cards you qualify for.

Capital One Spark Miles for Business

The Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business limited-time offer has two spending milestones that equal 200,000 bonus miles, worth up to $2,000 to spend on award travel including flights, hotels, and more:

  • Spend $5,000 in the first 3 months to earn 50,000 bonus miles ($500 in award travel)
  • Spend $50,000 in the first 6 months of account opening to earn the final 150,000 bonus miles ($1500 in award travel)

With the Spark Miles, you will also get these extra benefits:

  • Earn unlimited 2 miles per $1 on all purchases
  • Earn 5 miles per $1 on Capital One Travel hotel and rental car bookings when you use your card
  • $100 Global Entry or $85 TSA PreCheck application fee credit

Your miles are worth 1 cent each when redeemed for travel statement credits and booking upcoming travel. You can also transfer your miles to the Capital Online airline transfer partners. For most airlines, the transfer ratio is 1.5:1 which makes it harder to maximize your value compared to the Amex Business Platinum.

Capital One Spark Cash for Business

The Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business 3-month and 6-month spending requirements are identical to the Spark Miles. The only difference is that your points are redeemable for cash statement credits, erasing recent purchases, or as a mailed paper check.

Here are your 3-month and 6-month minimum spend requirements to earnt he full $2,000 bonus:

  • Spend $5,000 in the first 3 months to earn a $500 cash bonus
  • Spend $50,000 in the first 6 months of account opening to earn the final $1500 bonus cash

You will also earn unlimited 2% back on every purchase.

American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark: Best Limited Time Offers

Which business credit card limited time offer is better? Between the American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark, which card will offer more for your business?

The answer might be as simple as knowing if you can spend $20,000 in 3 months (Amex Business Platinum) or $50,000 in the first 6 months (either Capital One Spark card). But let’s give you a few more reasons to decide which offer is best for you.

Amex Business Platinum

The Business Platinum® Card from American Express offer is better in these instances:

  • You can spend $20,000 in the first 3 months
  • Can’t spend $50,000 in the first 6 months (Capital One Spark requirement)
  • Want to earn Membership Rewards
  • Have already earned the Spark Miles or Spark Cash bonus offer in the past

Although this bonus is smaller, you also have to spend less than half the cash.

Capital One Spark

The Capital One Spark bonus is better when:

  • Can spend $50,000 in the first 6 months
  • Can’t spend $20,000 in the first 3 months but can spend $50,000 in the first 6 months
  • Don’t want to earn Membership Rewards
  • Have already earned an Amex Business Platinum welcome bonus

Not every business can spend $50,000 in 6 months. But if you can, you get $2,000 of that money back for cash or travel rewards.

Summary of American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark Limited Time Offers

Both of the American Express Business Platinum vs Capital One Spark bonuses are some of the largest you may ever be able to earn.
