Final Thoughts

These American Express credit cards bonus categories are a welcome addition to many still looking for ways to maximize their new spending routine. American Express is also extending all credit card welcome bonus requirements by 3 months if you apply for a new card by May 31, 2020:

“Due to the impact of COVID-19, for eligible Card accounts approved from December 1, 2019 through May 31, 2020 for which you are eligible for a welcome offer, the period to make eligible purchases to earn your welcome bonus will be extended for an additional 3 months. Eligible Cards are U.S. Consumer and Business Cards issued by American Express National Bank to a Basic Card Member.”

Other credit card companies, like Citi, are starting to offer more bonus categories through the summer of 2020. One of the most exciting additions is earning bonus points on many Chase credit cards on supermarket purchases.

In conclusion, American Express seems to be the trendsetter in credit card extensions this year so let’s see what else happens.
