Mind the battery level on the hotel safeEach Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip come from reader Sandy, who builds on the recent tip about hotel safes, saying:

“And another tip about hotel safes. If you get a delay in the display or a ‘low battery’ reading, let the hotel know immediately. I got that reading after I locked the safe. The next morning when I tried to open it so I could check out of the hotel, it wouldn’t open. The hotel security and maintenance staff had to work on it for over two hours. They finally removed the safe in its entirety and used a crowbar to pry it open. Fortunately I was still able to get to the airport on time.”

Thanks, Sandy!
