For the most part, you can expect some simple and straightforward credit cards from Capital One. You can also expect a good amount of variety; they offer valuable cards for everyone from students to small business owners and travelers. Whichever you choose, you’ll get a few distinct perks: no foreign transaction fees, rewards that don’t expire, access to your TransUnion CreditWise score, and, of course, free mobile banking. Let’s take a closer look at the best Capital One credit cards.

Beyond that, each card has unique features. In this article, we’ll take a look at the best Capital One credit cards. Whether you need a card for travel, cash back, improving credit, or small business spending, there’s something here for you.

Good for Travel Rewards: Venture Rewards

  • 50,000 bonus miles when you spend $3000 in the first 3 months
  • 2x miles on all purchases
  • $0 intro annual fee (then $95/year)
  • Redeem miles for a travel statement credit

The Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card might actually be Capital One’s most popular card, thanks to its easy-to-use rewards and valuable sign-up bonus. The Venture definitely doesn’t compete with the luxury-level travel rewards cards from AMEX, Chase, and Citi, but it holds its own as a midrange option.

At 2x miles on every purchase (with each mile worth 1 cent), you’re essentially earning 2% back in rewards. That’s on top of that 50,000-mile sign-up bonus, which is worth $500. When it comes time to redeem your miles, you’ll have two options:

  • Purchase Eraser: Redeem your miles as a statement credit against travel purchases made in the last 90 days
  • Book travel: Use your miles to book travel through Capital One

You can also make partial redemptions, with no redemption minimum. That means you’ll be able to take full advantage of all of your rewards, no matter how few you have. And, as a bonus, your miles won’t expire. For travel rewards cards, redemption options don’t get much more flexible or straightforward than this. For these reasons, the Venture Rewards made it to the best Capital One credit cards list.

Good for Cash Back: Quicksilver Rewards

  • $150 cash bonus when you spend $500 in the first 3 months of account opening
  • Unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases
  • $0 annual fee

The Capital One® Quicksilver® Card – 0% Intro APR for 15 Months is the cash back answer to the Venture card. In terms of valuable midrange cash back cards, it’s hard to beat.

If you’re looking for a card to rake in huge amounts of cash back, this admittedly might not be your best option. The Citi Double Cash, for example, also carries no annual fee but earns a full 2% cash back on all purchases you make (and pay off). Still, it’s the details that make this card stand out.

Between its welcome bonus and no foreign transaction fee, this card offers unique value as a flexible, travel-friendly cash back card. If you want to earn much more cash back than this, you can plan on having to pay a sizeable annual fee.

Good for Small Businesses: Spark Cash for Business

  • $500 cash bonus when you spend $4,500 in the first 3 months
  • Unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases
  • $0 intro annual fee (then $95/year)

The Capital One Spark Cash for Business is also largely similar to the Venture Card, with 2% cash back and no annual fee for the first year (followed by a $95/year fee). However, instead of travel perks, it comes with business perks like free employee cards and an itemized business expense breakdown at the end of the year. And on top of that, you’ll be able to earn a $500 bonus when you meet the $4,500 spending minimum. Considering you’ll receive that bonus as cash back, that’s really as flexible as it gets.

Finally, like the Venture card, there’s no redemption minimum for the Spark Cash. You might be able to earn higher rewards with higher end business cards from Chase and AMEX, but Capital One knows where it excels: simple, straightforward, valuable rewards cards.

Good for Students: Journey Student Rewards

  • Up to 1.25% cash back on all purchases
  • No annual fee

If you’re a student, you might not yet have an extensive credit history. That can make it difficult to sign up for most rewards credit cards, which tend to look for applicants with good to excellent credit. Here’s where the Journey Student Rewards card is beneficial. It’s pretty bare-bones, but it’ll definitely do the trick.

With this card, you’ll earn 1% cash back on all of your purchases and an extra .25% cash back when you make your payments on time. Throw in the card’s $0 annual fee, and you really don’t have much to lose. This can be a great option for students looking to improve their credit, earn cash back, and eventually graduate to a more valuable card.
