Best Credit Card Signup Bonus Options

Earning the best credit card signup bonuses is one of the easiest ways to maximize your travel rewards. After all, it’s not every day you can earn up to $1,000 in bonus award travel. Plus, you continue to earn bonus points on each dollar spent and get to enjoy a few other card benefits as well.

Our Favorite Limited Time Credit Card Offers Available Now

With banks tightening their approval policies, it is now more important than ever to maximize the rewards you earn when applying for a new travel credit card. You need to be selective and strategic when picking out credit cards. The best way to score extra miles and points is by taking advantage of these limited-time credit card offers. Follow along as we discuss some of our favorites.

What are limited-time credit card offers?

Banks are continually testing out offers for credit cards to see which resonate with potential customers. This is why you may see an offer for 40,000 points on one website and 50,000 points on another. Some offers are only available through targeted campaigns you receive via email or traditional mail.

When banks are launching a new product or if they are experiencing a lull in applications, they’ll release a limited time offer to generate a buzz around a credit card. One of the best examples of the last couple of years was when the Chase Sapphire Reserve was launched with a 100,000 point bonus.

Here is a selection of the top limited-time credit card offers that will help you maximize the number of airline miles, hotel points, and bank bonuses you receive.

Chase Ultimate Rewards

Some of the most sought-after points in the travel community belong to the Chase Ultimate Rewards. This is because of the 1:1 point transfers as well as the Chase travel partners.

Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card

It offers 3x points on the first $150,000 you spend on travel, shipping, internet, cable, phone, and social media & internet advertising each account year. The current Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card offer of 100,000 Ultimate Reward points after spending $15,000 within the first three months.

The Business Platinum Card from American Express

New The Business Platinum Card® from American Express cardholders have the opportunity to earn 100,000 Membership Rewards as part of the welcome offer. To earn the 100,000 bonus points, they need to spend $15,000 on eligible purchases on their card in the first 3 months of Card Membership.

The annual fee is $595 (See Rates & Fees).

CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard

New CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® cardholders can earn 65,000 miles after spending $4,000 in the first four months of account opening.

The great thing is that Citibank still allows you to try this card for free for a year by waiving the $99 annual fee the first year, and you get four months (as opposed to the usual three months) to earn the signup bonus.

Perks include free first checked bag on domestic American Airlines flights, 25% savings on American Airlines inflight WiFi, and preferred boarding on American Airlines flights. Cardholders earn 2 AAdvantage® miles per $1 spent on eligible American Airlines purchases as well as purchases at telecommunications merchants, cable and satellite providers, car rental merchants, and at gas stations. All other purchases earn 1 AAdvantage® mile per $1 spent.

You’ll find immense value with this card when you earn a companion ticket after spending $30,000 each year. That benefit alone could be well worth keeping this credit card year after year. This is also one of the best Citi credit cards available.

6 Travel Credit Cards With Good Sign Up Bonuses

If you’re ready to check out credit card bonus offers to make travel more manageable but still want a business or travel card, we’ve rounded up six travel credit cards with good signup/welcome bonuses worth considering.

Don’t get too fixated on the limited time sign up bonus

When you look for a credit card offer, especially limited time credit cards with super bonuses, consider picking one that fits your travel lifestyle over the bonus itself. Choose a card that has spending categories that make sense for you.

For instance, if you have plans to fly internationally, look for a card that offers robust options for transferring points to partner airlines for international travel. Chase Sapphire Reserve has a number of partners that can quickly get you to Europe and Asia, including a 1:1 ratio points transfer for:

  • Singapore Airlines
  • Aer Lingus
  • British Airways
  • United Airlines
  • KLM Air France
  • Iberia
  • Southwest Airlines
  • Virgin Atlantic
  • Emirates
  • JetBlue

Perhaps travel means you often take long road trips with your friends or family. If that’s the case, a credit card that gives you miles or points on filling up at gas stations would be a great fit. Or, you may want to look at credit cards with car rental insurance.

Before you apply for a travel credit card

When you take advantage of the best travel credit cards with super bonuses, there are a few things you should understand, especially if you’re new to the world of credit cards. For one, pay off your credit card bill in full after you meet the spending threshold.

In other words, if you need to spend $3,000 in the first three months of opening your account to receive the bonus, don’t let the balance linger. Doing so means you’re paying interest on that debt, which makes the bonus offer less lucrative, if not negligible.

The second thing to know is that you will likely need good to excellent credit for these bonus deals. If you’re working with a credit score lower than 700-ish, you’ll need to improve your score first.

A credit score of 750 or higher is ideal for applying for credit cards with excellent bonus offers.

OK, so now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, here are six premium travel credit cards with bonuses.

1. Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card

  • 100,000 bonus points offer is worth $1,250 (when you book through Chase Ultimate Rewards)
  • 3X points on travel and business-related categories
  • Annual fee: $95

If you have a small business, the Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card tops our list with a whopping 100,000 rewards points! However, the spending threshold is higher at $15,000 that you must meet within the first three months of account opening. This is one of the best Chase business credit cards.

The Chase Ink Business Preferred card should be used for business, which is why the categories are geared to spending on things like office supplies, shipping purchases, cable, phone, internet, and online subscriptions such as WordPress.

2. Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Credit Card

  • 60,000 Southwest points after spending $3,000 in purchases in the first three months of account opening
  • 2X points on Southwest purchases
  • 6,000 Anniversary bonus points
  • No blackout dates
  • Get two free checked bags on every flight
  • No change or cancel fees
  • Annual fee: $99

The Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Credit Card is a terrific option because of their companion pass. You can designate a travel companion who flies free with you on all Southwest flights.

Of course, you need to earn points to get there. But the good news is that the 60,000 points will count towards the 110,000 Southwest Companion Pass qualifying points. You need to earn 110,000 points in one calendar year to get the pass. Not all points count toward qualification, but you can get a headstart with the Southwest Credit Card.

Tip: If you’re unsure about whether you can apply for a business credit card because you don’t technically have a business, read our article about business credit cards first.

3. Citi Premier Card

  • 60,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening
  • Redeemable for $750 in airfare at thankyou.com
  • 3X points on travel, including gas stations
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Annual fee: $95

The Citi Premier® Card is a great option if you plan on taking a lot of road trips since you earn 3X the points on gas purchases.

  • $300 Annual Travel Credit as reimbursement for travel purchases charged to your card each account anniversary year

Chase is helping cardholders maximize this credit when they are not able to travel. Typically nearly all Reserve cardmembers reap the full $300 benefit annually, effectively offsetting the annual fee. To ensure cardmembers can take full advantage, gas and grocery have been added as qualifying purchases, through Dec. 31, 2021.

Cardholders earn 3X points on restaurants worldwide and 3X points on travel immediately after earning your $300 travel credit. Additionally, cardholders can earn up to $120 in statement credits on Peloton Digital and All-Access Memberships through December 31, 2021.

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee is waived for cardholders, up to $100. Complimentary airport lounge access (over 1,200 lounges, worldwide) are also a perk.

Additional Perks

This is in addition to the complimentary DashPass subscription from DoorDash that lets cardholders get unlimited deliveries with a $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees. They also earn up to $120 in statement credits on DoorDash purchases ($60 in statement credits through 2020 and another $60 in statement credits through 2021).

Plus, cardholders earn 10x points on Lyft rides, including bikes and scooters. Complimentary Lyft Pink Membership is also available when activated by March 21, 2022.

Points are worth 50% more now through Sept. 30, 2021, when redeemed for statement credits against existing purchases in select, rotating categories with the Chase Pay Yourself Back feature. Points are also worth 50% more when redeemed through the new Chase Dining hub in Ultimate Rewards, now through Sept. 30, 2021.

The annual fee is $550. You will need excellent credit for this card.

I’m impartial to the Chase Sapphire Reserve® because I use it often. While the bonus points aren’t as high as some of the other cards listed in this article, the travel perks simply can’t be beaten.

I’ve fully taken advantage of applying for Global Entry, which means I breezed through SFO after many an international flight. It’s also nice to be able to chill inside an airport lounge when the airport is crowded. When I travel, I book trips through Chase Ultimate Rewards to earn 3X the points.
