The popularity of takeout and restaurant delivery apps is exploding this year thanks to the stay-at-home orders. There are several credit cards that cater to DoorDash and Uber Eats deliveries. It’s possible to get free delivery credits and waive some fees with one of these cards.
Best Credit Cards for DoorDash and Uber Eats

Chase Sapphire Reserve
The Chase Sapphire Reserve® can be the best credit card for DoorDash purchases. This premium card has a couple of DoorDash benefits. First, you get up to $120 in DoorDash statement credits ($60 in 2020 and $60 in 2021).
Another perk is at least one year of free DoorDash DashPass. This subscription normally costs $9.99 per month ($119.88/year). DashPass benefits include a $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees on a minimum of $12 orders. Cardholders must activate this offer by 12/31/2021.
Dining purchases (including delivery and takeout) earns 3 Ultimate Rewards per $1. Travel purchases also earn 3x points per $1, immediately after the cardholder earns the $300 travel credit. Each issue is worth 1.5 cents each for award travel. Transferring points at a 1:1 ratio to airline and hotel partners is another option.
The $300 annual travel credit can also apply to gas station and grocery store purchases until June 30, 2021.
Other Sapphire Reserve Perks
There are a couple of other Sapphire Reserve partner benefits. Through December 31, 2021, you can get up to $120 in statement credits for Peloton Digital and All-Access Memberships.
Lyft Pink membership is complimentary for one year (must activate by March 31, 2022). Benefits include 15% off Lyft rides. Also, all Lyft purchases earn 10x Ultimate Rewards through March 2022.
New cardmembers can qualify for a signup bonus of 50,000 Ultimate Rewards ($750 value) by spending $4,000 in the first 3 months.
The annual fee is $550 for the primary card and $75 per authorized user.

The Platinum Card from American Express
The Platinum Card® from American Express is the best option for Uber Eats. Each month, cardmembers get a $15 Uber Cash credit ($35 in December) for Uber rides and eats.
Other card benefits include:
- 5x points on flights booked on AmexTravel or through the airline; Starting January 1, 2021, earn 5X points on up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year.
- 5x points on prepaid hotels at AmexTravel.com

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card excels at offering DoorDash benefits with a reasonable annual fee. Like the premium Sapphire Reserve, the Sapphire Preferred offers a minimum of one year of free DoorDash DashPass for unlimited $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on $12+ orders. Activate your card by December 31, 2021, to take advantage of the DoorDash perks.
Cardholders also earn 5x points on Lyft rides, through March 2022. Through April 30, 2021, cardholders automatically earn 2x points per $1 spent at grocery stores, up to $1,000 per month.
Additionally, cardholders can earn up to $60 in statement credits on Peloton Digital and All-Access Memberships through December 31, 2021. Points are worth 25% more now through April 30, 2021, when redeemed for statement credits against existing purchases in select, rotating categories with the Chase Pay Yourself Back feature. Points are also worth 25% more when redeemed through the new Chase Dining hub in Ultimate Rewards, now through April 30, 2021.
Each travel and dining purchase (including takeout and delivery apps–like DoorDash and Uber Eats) earn unlimited 2x Ultimate Rewards. Each point is worth 1.25 cents each when redeemed for award travel on Chase.

Chase Freedom Flex
The Chase Freedom Flex℠ is a good option for earning dining rewards without an annual fee. For instance, you get 3% back on restaurant, takeout, and food delivery app purchases. Plus, cardmembers get 3 months of complimentary DoorDash DashPass and 50% off the monthly fee for the remaining 9 months (normally $9.99/month).
Purchase rewards include:
- 5% cash back in combined purchases for quarterly bonus categories (on the first $1,500)
- 5% cash back on travel purchases through Chase Ultimate Rewards
- 3% cash back on dining and restaurants
- 3% cash back on drugstore purchases
- 1% cash back on everything else
Each Ultimate Reward point is worth 1 cent each and can be redeemed for travel, cash, and gift cards.
Other built-in Mastercard World Elite benefits include 5% back on Lyft rides (through March 2022) and a $10 Lyft credit monthly after 5 ride purchases. Free ShopRunner membership, cell phone protection, Fandango discounts, and 5% cash rewards at Boxed are other benefits.

American Express Gold Card
The American Express® Gold Card is a good option for maximizing travel and food purchases. This card earns 4x Membership Rewards on restaurant purchases (includes takeout and delivery). The first $25,000 in annual purchases at U.S. supermarkets earn 4 Membership Rewards per $1.
Flights booked directly from the airline and on AmexTravel.com earn 3 points per $1.
Cardmembers can also get up to $120 in annual dining credits ($10 per month) for Grubhub, Seamless, Cheesecake Factory, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Boxed, and select Shake Shack locations.
While DoorDash and Uber Eats aren’t among the dining credit options, there are still worthy selections to choose from.

The Uber Visa Credit Card can be a good option for Uber Eats as you earn 5% Uber Cash on Uber-related purchases. All non-Uber Eats restaurant purchases earn 3% back along with airfare and hotels.
