Ink Business Preferred Credit Card

The Chase Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card might be the overall best credit card for salesmen. You will earn bonus points for online and in-person sales. It earns 3x Ultimate Rewards points on the first $150,000 in combined spending for these purchases:

  • Travel
  • Shipping purchases
  • Select internet, cable and phone services
  • Search engine and social media advertising purchases

All remaining purchases earn an unlimited 1x point per $1 spent. Your points are worth 1.25 cents each when booking award travel on Chase. You can also transfer them to airline and hotel airline transfer partners including United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Emirates, British Airways, and World of Hyatt. Each point is only worth 1 cent each when redeemed for cash or gift card rewards.

The Ink Business Preferred card also has a signup bonus worth up to $1,250 in award travel. You earn 100,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points after spending $15,000 in the first 3 months.

Ink Business Cash Credit Card

If you’re a local or regional salesman, your best credit card might be one that earns bonus points at gas stations, restaurants, and office supply stores. The Ink Business Cash℠ Credit Card has no annual fee and earns up to 5% back on purchases.

Earn 5% back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores and on internet, cable, and phone services each card anniversary year. Get 2% back on the first $25,000 in combined purchases spent at gas stations and restaurants each account anniversary year. All non-bonus purchases earn 1% back.

Your points can be redeemed for cash, award travel, and gift cards. Note that the Ink Business Cash Credit Card doesn’t offer 1:1 airline and hotel transfer partners.

However, the signup bonus is $500 bonus cash after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. Both the Ink Business Cash and Ink Business Preferred are some of the best Chase business credit cards.

American Express Business Gold Card

The American Express® Business Gold Card earns 4x Membership Rewards on the two select categories in which your business spent the most each month. It can be your best option if you advertise on television or radio plus online. Most credit cards only award bonus points on online advertising purchases and not other digital media.

Your bonus category options are:

  • Airfare purchased directly from airlines
  • Advertising purchases in select media such as TV, radio, and online (U.S. purchases only)
  • Purchases made directly from select technology providers of computer hardware, software, and cloud solutions (U.S. purchases only)
  • Gas stations (U.S. purchases only)
  • Restaurants (U.S. purchases only)
  • Shipping purchases (U.S. purchases only)

With the exception of airfare purchases, only U.S. purchases on bonus points for the other categories. You get 4x points on the first $150,000 in combined annual purchases from these 2 categories. All non-bonus spending earns 1 point per $1.

Your points with the American Express Business Gold are most valuable when booking award flights. You can get 25% of your points back when redeeming award flights using AmexTravel.com (up to 250,000 points back per year). Plus, you can transfer them at a 1:1 ratio to airline partners like Delta, Emirates, British Airways, and Air France KLM. The annual fee is $295 (See Rates & Fees). 

You can also use the Pay Over Time Option, a flexible payment option to help manage cash flow on purchases of $100 or more (terms apply). This card is one of the best business cards for airline miles.

Blue Business Plus Credit Card from American Express

The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express earns 2x Membership Rewards points per $1 on the first $50,000 in annual everyday business purchases. All remaining spend earns 1 point per $1 with this no annual fee card (See Rates & Fees). Your points are most valuable when redeeming for award flights or transferring to the Membership Rewards airline and hotel transfer partners.

Plus, new cardholders can earn up to $300 back to boost your business. You can earn up to $100 in the form of statement credits at each of the following merchants: Dell Technologies, DocuSign, or FedEx after you make an eligible purchase on your new card within the first 3 months of account opening.

American Express Blue Business Cash Card

If you prefer cash rewards, the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card earns 2% back on up to $50,000 in annual purchases and then 1% back for all remaining purchases. Plus, if you’re a new cardholder, you can earn up to $300 back to boost your business. You’ll earn up to $100 in the form of statement credits at each of the following merchants: Dell Technologies, DocuSign, or FedEx after you make an eligible purchase on your card within the first 3 months of account opening.

This card also has no annual fee (See Rates & Fees). 

Both of the Amex Blue Business Credit Cards have no annual fee. You might be a startup business or want a backup credit card. These are some of the best credit cards for salesmen because they have no annual fee and may earn double the points of your current credit card.

Business Platinum Card from American Express

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express can be your best option if you’re an international salesperson and fly often. Why? This card has some of the best travel benefits including:

  • Get 35% points back when booking award flights on AmexTravel (up to 500,000 points per year)

Another business perk you may appreciate is a Dell Small Business statement credit. To get the credit, cardholders must enroll to get up to $200 in annual Dell statement credits (cardholders get up to $100 semi-annually for U.S. Dell purchases – terms apply).

Your points are most valuable when booking award flights. For instance, each point is worth 1.35 cents each on AmexTravel thanks to the 35% redemption bonus. But you can likely squeeze more value if you can transfer them to a Membership Rewards airline transfer partner first.

The Amex Business Platinum Card is also an enticing option if you make large purchases. You earn 1.5x points on purchases larger than $5,000. All other purchases earn 1 point per $1. The annual fee is $595 (See Rates & Fees). 

Southwest Rapid Rewards Performance Business Credit Card

Capital One Spark Miles for Business

You might prefer a flat-rate rewards travel credit card. The Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business earns 2x miles on every purchase. But if you book hotels and car rentals through Capital One Travel, you’ll earn 5x miles per $1 spent. You can redeem Capital One miles through travel statement credits, booking upcoming travel, or transferring points to the Capital One airline partners.

This card also reimburses your Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit, up to $100. As this card doesn’t have a foreign transaction fee, it’s a great fit for international travel. Your annual fee is $0 for the first year, then $95 each card anniversary.
