A new credit card is a great opportunity to earn many rewards quickly. But when a limited time offer appears, the rewards can be even greater! There are several limited time offers available right now where you can earn up to 100,000 points. These are the best limited time credit card offers you should consider when applying for a new card.

What are limited time credit card offers?

Limited time credit card offers are exactly what they sound like. A bank, hotel, or airline will promote an increased bonus offer to encourage prospective cardholders to apply.

But why would they want to offer more points and miles?

Banks, airlines, and hotels aren’t offering more rewards out of the kindness of their hearts. Instead, they generally offer a higher sign-up/welcome bonus because they’re:

  • Launching a new product and want to make a splash
  • Feeling the heat due to competition from other credit cards
  • Opening new routes or properties and want to increase awareness

The bottom line is the best limited time credit card offers are driven by the marketing department to serve a strategic purpose. As consumers, you get to reap all of the benefits of their marketing budget.

The best limited time credit card offers available now

Here are the best limited time credit card offers available now. Before applying, check your credit score and do a little maintenance to increase your odds of approval. Keep in mind that rules restricting multiple bonuses still apply (i.e.: Chase 5/24). Do your homework before applying to ensure that you will get approved and receive the increased sign-up bonus.

The best limited-time credit card offers from American Express

Delta SkyMiles Blue American Express Card

The Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card isn’t a credit card that I would normally recommend because I feel there’s more value with the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card. However, with the Delta SkyMiles Blue, you’ll earn 10,000 bonus miles after you spend $500 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months. This is a good way to earn additional Delta miles if you’ve received all of the other Amex Delta credit bonuses.

It’s also good if you’re looking to get started on earning miles but don’t travel so often that you’d be better off getting the benefits of the other Delta cards.

Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card

To me, the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card is a better card for Delta fliers thanks to priority boarding and free checked bags. This my first choice for the occasional Delta traveler.

With the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card, you can earn 35,000 bonus SkyMiles after you spend $1,000 in purchases on your new card in your first 3 months.

Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card

For flyers who are looking to earn status with Delta, you can earn plenty as a new cardholder of the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card. You can earn 40,000 bonus miles and 5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) after you spend $2,000 in purchases on your new card in your first 3 months. Plus, earn a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new card within your first 3 months.

The Best Limited-Time Credit Card Offers From Chase

Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card (Expired)

New cardholders can also earn 125,000 points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening. For the first 12 months, new cardholders can also earn 40x points total per $1 spent when you stay at an IHG hotel. After that, you will earn 25x points per $1.

Additionally, you can earn 4x points on all other purchases for the first 12 months. After that, you will earn 2x points at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants and 1 point per $1 on everything else.

A fee reimbursement of up to $100 for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck every four years is also included. Plus you’ll get the 4th night free when redeeming points for stays of 4 consecutive nights or more.

The old perks like automatic Platinum status and an annual free night are still there. One downgrade is that the free night is now capped at 40,000 points, which puts many of my favorite Kimpton properties out of reach.

The best limited-time credit card offers from Citibank

Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite MasterCard (Expired)

Citibank is feeling the heat from Barclays, so they’ve increased the bonus on the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite MasterCard to 60,000 miles. You’ll receive this limited time offer bonus after spending $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

Citi has also added the ability to earn a $100 flight discount when you renew the card after spending $20,000 in an anniversary year. Bonus miles are now earned at 2x spend on dining and gas purchases.

These are great cards to have if you fly American Airlines at least once a year because of the priority boarding and free checked bags benefits.

Citi Double Cash Card (Expired)

In the miles and points community, people often overlook cash back credit cards. For non-bonus spend, I often pull out my Citi Double Cash Card to pay for the purchase.

For a limited time, Citi has increased the welcome bonus from $100 to $150. Compared to other travel credit cards, $150 may not seem like a lot, but for a no annual fee credit card that offer 2% cash back on everything you buy, it is quite lucrative.

The best limited time credit card offers from Barclays

Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard

The Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard has a limited time credit card offer of 60,000 miles. You’ll receive the bonus after your first purchase, compared to a minimum spend of $3,000 for the Citi version. The Barclays AA card also earns $3,000 in Elite Qualifying Dollars after spending $25,000 each calendar year.

I like this credit card because Barclays hasn’t implemented rules like Citibank’s one bonus per family every 24 months. This is a great choice if you’ve received a bonus from a Citibank American Airlines card lately. However, note that the annual fee is not waived in the first year.

Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Business Mastercard

The limited time offer on the Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Business Mastercard is 60,000 miles after your first purchase. This 60,000-mile bonus may be lower than the 70,000 offered by the CitiBusiness version, but the Barclays is a better card long term.

Many of the Barclays and Citi business credit card benefits are the same, such as the companion pass after spending $30,000, 25% in-flight savings, free checked bag, and priority boarding. However, big spenders will appreciate that the Barclays business card offers a 5% bonus each year on the number of miles earned from the credit card. Additionally, only the Barclays card earns $3,000 EQDs after spending $25,000 each calendar year.

The best limited time credit card offers from Bank of America

Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Credit Card

The Bank of America Alaska Airlines Visa Signature credit card bonus offer usually ranges from 25,000 to 35,000 throughout the year. With this limited time offer, you’ll receive 30,000 bonus miles and a $100 statement credit. Just make $1,000 in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening.

The Alaska card is another one that offers a companion certificate as a cardholder benefit. However, there is not a spending requirement to earn this perk. When you renew the card, you will receive the Alaska companion certificate automatically.

Which best limited time credit card offer is for you?

When picking the “best” credit card, I recommend people focus on the next vacation that they are planning to book. Select a credit card with a limited time offer that will help you reduce your travel expenses on your upcoming vacation. Even if this means you won’t get the highest offer from those available, I’d rather save money now to lock in my savings today versus building points for a “someday” vacation that may never happen.
